Crunchyroll has announced it will exclusively stream a two-part Chainsaw Man anime compilation film, titled Chainsaw Man – The Compilation: Part I and Chainsaw Man – The Compilation: Part II, globally this September, excluding Asia. The films will offer fans a chance to revisit the critically acclaimed first season and will include new animated content ahead of the highly anticipated Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc theatrical release.
Recapping the Devil Hunter’s Journey
The compilation films are designed to recap the key events and thrilling battles of the first season of the Chainsaw Man anime, which was produced by the renowned studio MAPPA. This re-edited presentation provides both new and returning viewers an opportunity to catch up on Denji’s journey. Denji, an impoverished teenager, makes a contract with the Chainsaw Devil, Pochita, transforming him into the Chainsaw Man and leading him to join the Public Safety Devil Hunters. The two films are expected to cover the Public Safety Saga, showcasing Denji’s initial struggles, his alliances with characters like Aki Hayakawa and Power, and his confrontations with various devils.
“Chainsaw Days” Brings New Content to the Screen
Beyond merely recapping the television anime, the compilation films will feature brand-new animated content. This includes “Chainsaw Days” (also referred to as “Chainsaw Biyori”), which is an adaptation of bonus episodes or extra chapters from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s original Chainsaw Man manga. This addition promises fresh insights and humorous moments for manga readers and anime-only fans alike.
Paving the Way for the Reze Arc Movie
The release of the compilation films on Crunchyroll serves as a direct lead-in to the upcoming Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. This highly anticipated feature film is a direct sequel to the first season of the anime and will adapt the beloved “Reze Arc” from the manga. The movie focuses on Denji’s encounter with the mysterious girl Reze, pulling him into a new, unpredictable, and dangerous fate.
The Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is slated to premiere in Japan on September 19, 2025, with screenings in 61 IMAX theaters across the country. International audiences can expect the movie to begin its theatrical run starting September 24, with a specific release in the United States and United Kingdom scheduled for October 29, 2025, via Sony Pictures. In Japan, the compilation films will also have an exclusive先行 (early access) stream on the ABEMA platform on September 5 at 9:00 p.m. JST.
The Enduring Popularity of Chainsaw Man
