The upcoming 32nd Crayon Shin-chan film, “Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers,” is set to be a vibrant and hilarious adventure with a dash of Indian spice. Adding to the excitement, the comedy duo Viking, consisting of Eiji Kotoge and Mizuki Nishimura, will be joining the cast as guest voice actors, lending their talents to local Indian characters.
A Bollywood Blast in Kasukabe
This year marks a significant milestone for the Crayon Shin-chan movie franchise as it ventures into India for the first time. In “Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers,” the Kasukabe Defence Force wins a trip to India after winning a dance competition held in commemoration of Mushibai in India becoming a sister city of Kasukabe. Shinnosuke and Bo-chan stumble upon a suspicious general store where they find a backpack holding a terrifying secret. The word “Karei” in the title is a pun that sounds like both “gorgeous” and “curry” in Japanese.
Viking Invades the Crayon Shin-chan Universe
Eiji Kotoge will be playing the role of Uhun Ahaan, a local guide, while Mizuki Nishimura will voice a part-time worker at a general store.
Kotoge shared his excitement, stating, “Crayon Shin-chan itself is interesting, and I have seen the movies, so I was simply happy that our voices would be heard in the work”. He also noted the challenges of voice acting, “I had almost no experience in acting or voice acting so it was more difficult than I imagined, but the director gave me detailed acting instructions and I was able to play the role to the fullest”. He also praised the film’s humor and incorporation of Indian film elements.
Nishimura expressed his joy at fulfilling a long-held dream: “Ever since my children were born, I’ve wanted to try being a voice actor for an anime that my children like, so when I received this offer I was incredibly happy”.
The Team Behind the Spice
Masakazu Hashimoto, known for directing numerous Crayon Shin-chan films, including the 30th installment “The Tornado Legend of Ninja Mononoke,” is at the helm of this project. He also co-writes the screenplay with Kimiko Ueno, a veteran writer who has contributed to the film series since the 21st installment, “Very Tasty! B-class Gourmet Survival!!”.
A Dance to Remember
“Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers” is being promoted as the series’ first “dance entertainment movie”. The story kicks off with the “Kasukabe Kids Entertainment Festival,” where the winners of a dance competition will be invited to India to perform on a local stage. Shinnosuke and his friends join forces to win the competition and embark on their Indian adventure.
Bo-chan’s Transformation
A teaser visual and trailer have highlighted Bo-chan, the quiet and often overlooked member of the Kasukabe Defense Force, taking on a central role. After Shinnosuke and Bo-chan purchase a mysterious backpack, Bo-chan sticks a piece of paper from it in his nose, leading an evil force to turn him into “Bo-kun” (tyrant). This transformed Bo-chan becomes a powerful figure who threatens the world, leaving it up to Shinnosuke and his friends to stop him.
More Guest Stars
Adding to the star power, actor Kento Kaku will also be joining the cast as Wolf, a dancing and singing Indian billionaire.
