Fans of “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?” (DanMachi) can rejoice! After an unexpected delay, the anime’s fifth season is set to resume, and a new promotional video has been released to whet appetites for the upcoming episodes.

The Delay and Return of DanMachi V

Season 5, also known as DanMachi V, experienced an interruption after airing episode 11 in late December. The production team cited “internal challenges” as the reason for the postponement, leaving fans in suspense. However, the wait is nearly over, as the remaining episodes are slated to begin airing in February.

Broadcast Schedule

Here’s the updated broadcast schedule for the remaining episodes of DanMachi V:

  • Episodes 12-13: February 7, 2025
  • Episode 14: February 26, 2025
  • Episode 15: March 6, 2025

New Promotional Video Released

To build excitement for the return, the official website for the DanMachi franchise released a new promotional video on January 31, 2025, showcasing scenes from the delayed episodes 12 through 15. The trailer offers a glimpse into the climax of the fifth season, hinting at the challenges and adventures that await Bell Cranel and his companions.

The Freya Arc

Season 5 adapts the Freya Arc from the original light novel series, specifically volumes 16-18. This arc promises to be a thrilling and pivotal part of the DanMachi saga, delving deeper into the world and characters that fans have come to love.

Storyline

The current season covers the Goddess of Fertility Arc. The initial episodes introduced viewers to Syr’s growing feelings for Bell and set the stage for the Goddess Festival. As the season progresses, viewers can expect escalating conflicts and high stakes as Bell and his allies confront new challenges.

Production Details

The anime is produced by J.C.Staff and directed by Hideki Tachibana. The series composition is handled by Fujino Omori, the original author of the light novels, and Hideki Shirane. Shigeki Kimoto is responsible for the character designs, and Keiji Inai provides the music.

Theme Songs

The opening theme song for the season is “Shōnen” performed by Gre4n Boyz, while the ending theme song is “Hydrate” performed by Sajou no Hana.

Impact on Related Media

The delay in the anime’s broadcast schedule has also affected the release of the upcoming video game, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? ~Fullland of Water and Light~. To align with the anime’s new ending in March, the game’s launch has been moved from February 27 to March 13.

About the Game

Fullland of Water and Light features a brand new story from original light novel author Fujino Omori, along with new and returning characters. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch and PC, with support for both English and Japanese languages.

What to Expect

Fans can anticipate a thrilling conclusion to DanMachi V, with the remaining episodes promising intense action, emotional moments, and further exploration of the series’ rich lore. The Freya Arc is known for its dramatic storyline and significant character development, making it a highly anticipated part of the anime adaptation.

Anime Delays: A Growing Trend

The delay of DanMachi V is part of a growing trend of seasonal anime experiencing production-related setbacks. These delays often stem from budget constraints, tight deadlines, or other internal challenges within the animation studios. While frustrating for fans, such delays are sometimes necessary to ensure the quality of the animation and the well-being of the staff involved in the production.
