The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of HYBE and ENHYPEN’s popular webtoon, “Dark Moon: The Blood Altar,” is officially slated for a January 9, 2026, premiere in Japan. The core group of characters from the “Dark Moon: The Blood Altar” webtoon will be voiced by a talented lineup of Japanese voice actors. The revealed main cast includes:

  • Heli: Voiced by Kikunosuke Toya, known for his role as Denji in Chainsaw Man. Heli is the eldest of the Seven Vampires at Decelis Academy, characterized by his gentle nature and telepathic abilities.
  • Jino: Voiced by Shugo Nakamura.
  • Shion: Voiced by Shunichi Toki.
  • Noa: Voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi.
  • Jaan: Voiced by Hiroto Shimizu.

  • Jukah: Voiced by Yūto Uemura.
  • Sooha: The mysterious female transfer student, voiced by Fūka Izumi.

Experienced Production Team at Studio TROYCA

Bringing the webtoon’s intricate narrative and distinctive art style to animation is a seasoned team. Shōko Shiga, an episode director for IDOLiSH7, is helming the project as the director at animation studio TROYCA.

Key Staff Members:

  • Director: Shōko Shiga
  • Series Composition: Tōko Machida, known for her work on SHOW BY ROCK!!
  • Character Design: Masami Inomata
  • Music: Naoki “naotyu-” Chiba
  • Sound Director: Takatoshi Hamano

The collaboration between HYBE and TROYCA aims to vividly bring the “Dark Moon” universe to life for fans and new viewers alike.

“Dark Moon: The Blood Altar” Story Premise

The anime adapts the “Dark Moon: The Blood Altar” webtoon, which is part of HYBE’s “Dark Moon” series and is connected to the musical universe of the K-pop group ENHYPEN. The story is an urban fantasy teen romance centered around Sooha, a girl with hidden superhuman abilities who enrolls in Decelis Academy, a night school supposedly inaccessible to supernatural beings.

At the academy, Sooha encounters Heli and his six friends – all vampires with unique powers – who are drawn to her. The narrative explores their fated encounters, friendships, and a powerful secret, set against the backdrop of an ancient rivalry between vampires and werewolves. Sooha finds herself entangled in this supernatural world, confronting the very creatures she has been taught to fear.

The webtoon initially launched in English in January 2022 and concluded its 71-chapter run in October 2023. Yen Press has been releasing an English edition of the manhwa in print, with Ize Press also releasing HYBE’s original novel in English.

Broadcast and Global Streaming Details

The “Dark Moon: The Blood Altar” anime will commence its broadcast in Japan on January 9, 2026, at 24:00 JST (effectively January 10 at 00:00). Crunchyroll will provide streaming access to the series for its members across various international territories. The initial season is expected to comprise 12 episodes.

While the new video provided extensive details on the main cast and production staff, specific information regarding the anime’s theme songs (opening and ending artists or titles) was not explicitly detailed in the available announcements.
