The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Natsumi Eguchi’s Dekin no Mogura (The Banned Mole) has announced the addition of three new voice actors to its cast. This supernatural comedy, based on the manga series, is slated to premiere in July 2025. The new cast members will be joining Yūichi Nakamura, who was previously announced as the voice of the main character, Momoyuki Mogura.

New Cast Members Revealed for ‘Dekin no Mogura’ Anime

The newly announced cast members will be voicing key supporting roles in the anime:

  • Genki Okawa as Kuriaki Magi: A third-year student in the Literature Department of Yame University.
  • Yukiyo Fujii as Kirihara Yaeko: Also a third-year student in the Literature Department.
  • Akane Fujita as Inukai Shio: A first-year student at Yame High School.

These voice actors bring experience from various anime productions, promising to enrich the character portrayals in Dekin no Mogura.

Voice Actors Share Their Thoughts on Their Roles

Each of the new cast members has shared their thoughts on their respective characters:

  • Genki Okawa stated, “Rather than being enthusiastic, I’m always nervous while performing. No matter what lines I’m saying, I feel like I’m always thinking, ‘What will the other person think if I say this?’ or ‘Is this the right way to end it?’ I feel like I’m always thinking while mouthing it. Since the lines are in the script, there’s no point in me thinking about them, but I’d be happy if my worries helped to bring out at least a little of Maki’s personality.”
  • Yukiyo Fujii commented, “Yaeko is not only cute in appearance, but also has the intelligence to see things objectively and see their true essence, and a sense of balance that allows her to maintain an exquisite distance from others. I will do my best to portray her inner strength, kindness, humor, and the pleasantness of her straightforward personality, and to convey her multifaceted, human charm to the viewers.”
  • Akane Fujita said, “Shio is basically the character who plays the role of the person who brings the atmosphere to life, so I didn’t get intimidated by the flow or atmosphere, and just tried to be honest, bright, energetic, strong and powerful!!! With that in mind, I did my best to make sure that people could enjoy Shio’s charms, such as the physical strength typical of the Inukai family, the cuteness of a girl her age, and her slightly silliness!”

What is ‘Dekin no Mogura’ About?

Dekin no Mogura follows the story of Momoyuki Mogura, a mysterious “self-proclaimed sage” who finds himself banned from the afterlife. To return, he collects the “light” of spirits in a lantern. The official website describes the story: “I can’t die because I’ve been banned from the afterlife.” Certain circumstances lead Mogura, a dubious self-proclaimed hermit, to collecting the “light” of spirits in a lantern in the hope of being allowed to pass on. It’s said that those who encounter him begin to see strange things.
