December’s Thrilling Lineup for Detective Conan Enthusiasts
The “Detective Conan: Cinema Saturdays” initiative, which has been making a selection of the franchise’s theatrical films available for free streaming in North America, has unveiled its schedule for the final month of the year. Each film premieres on a Saturday at 10:00 p.m. EST.
The December schedule includes:
- December 13: Detective Conan: Captured in Her Eyes (Movie 4)
- December 20: Detective Conan: Strategy Above the Depths (Movie 9)
- December 27: Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine (Movie 26)
Additionally, TMS Entertainment will stream the two-part episode “The Diplomat Murder Case” on December 12, and a “Winter episode showcase” featuring episodes 42 and 46 on December 19.
Black Iron Submarine: A Record-Breaking Cinematic Event
Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine, the 26th film in the franchise, premiered in Japan on April 14, 2023. It quickly became a monumental success, grossing over 10 billion yen (approximately US$73.7 million) and setting a new record as the highest-grossing Detective Conan film in history. The plot of Black Iron Submarine sees Conan and the Detective Boys visiting Hachijo-jima island, where a new offshore facility called “Pacific Buoy” is undergoing operations to connect security cameras worldwide. The situation escalates when a Europol employee is murdered in Germany by the Black Organization, leading Conan to infiltrate the facility and uncover a kidnapping by the nefarious organization.
The film’s U.S. premiere screening took place at Anime Expo on July 5, 2025.
The Broader “Cinema Saturdays” Campaign and Conan’s Streaming Presence
The “Cinema Saturdays” campaign is part of a larger effort by TMS Entertainment to celebrate the Detective Conan franchise leading up to its 30th anniversary in 2026. This initiative has seen a new film premiere weekly on the “Anime! on TMS Official Channel” since July 12, remaining available for seven days after its premiere. This marks the first time many Detective Conan movies have been officially available on YouTube in English, including several North American debuts.
Beyond the YouTube movie campaign, TMS Entertainment also launched a curated selection of Detective Conan episodes, titled “Conan vs. The Black Organization,” on Crunchyroll and Netflix in July 2025. These episodes are available in Japanese with English subtitles and feature an all-new English dub, marking its first appearance on Crunchyroll. This expanded streaming availability aims to introduce new fans to the long-running series and allow existing fans to revisit key moments, including episodes previously unavailable in the U.S.
