Disney+ has officially released an English-subtitled version of the main promotional video for Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation, offering international fans a clearer look at the upcoming anime series. The trailer, which premiered on the official Disney+ YouTube channel, highlights the first season, “Episode of Heartslabyul,” and features the ending theme song “Obedience” performed by the Heartslabyul Dorm students.

The anime, based on the popular mobile game that reimagines Disney villains as students in a magical academy, is set to debut on October 29, 2025, exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu.

A Glimpse into Night Raven College

The newly subtitled trailer provides an immersive introduction to the enchanting, yet mysterious, world of Night Raven College. It showcases the distinctive character designs by Black Butler creator Yana Toboso, which bring a unique gothic flair to the Disney-inspired cast. Veteran Japanese voice actor Koichi Yamadera, known for his roles as Genie in The Return of Jafar and Stitch in Lilo & Stitch, narrates the clip, further connecting the anime to its Disney roots by introducing the premise of characters inspired by classic Disney villains.

The “Episode of Heartslabyul” arc, inspired by Alice in Wonderland, will be the focus of the first season. Viewers get to see key members of the Heartslabyul Dorm, led by Riddle Rosehearts, as the narrative unfolds around the protagonist, Yūken Enma, an ordinary high school student transported to this magical realm.

Anime Adaptation Details and Production

Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation is a collaboration between Aniplex and Walt Disney Japan. The series is produced by Yumeta Company and Graphinica, with Takahiro Natori serving as chief director and handling series composition, and Shin Katagai directing. Yoichi Kato is responsible for the scripts, while Haruka Nakano and Akane Satō adapt Yana Toboso’s original character designs for animation. Takumi Ozawa, who composed music for the original game, returns to score the anime.

The first season is confirmed to have eight episodes. Disney has already announced plans for three seasons in total, with Season 2 focusing on “Episode of Savanaclaw” (inspired by The Lion King) and Season 3 covering “Episode of Octavinelle” (inspired by The Little Mermaid).

The Game’s Popularity and Global Reach

The Twisted-Wonderland mobile game, which launched in Japan in March 2020, has garnered significant popularity, surpassing 4.8 million downloads in Japan alone as of August 2025. The game was later released in North America in 2022. The success of the game laid the groundwork for this ambitious anime adaptation, showcasing Disney’s increasing involvement in licensing and co-producing anime projects. The release of an English-subtitled trailer suggests a potential global rollout for the anime on Disney+, though specific international release dates beyond Japan and Hulu have not been fully detailed.

The anime’s main cast features returning voice actors from the game, including Natsuki Hanae as Riddle Rosehearts, Seiichirō Yamashita as Ace Trappola, Chiaki Kobayashi as Deuce Spade, Ryōta Suzuki as Trey Clover, Tatsuyuki Kobayashi as Cater Diamond, and Noriaki Sugiyama as Grim. Mitsuru Miyamoto voices Dire Crowley. New cast members include Kenyū Horiuchi as Dark Mirror and Kento Hama as Che’nya.

Fans worldwide can anticipate the anime’s debut on October 29, 2025, to delve deeper into the magical world of Night Raven College and its charismatic, villain-inspired students.
