The Dogsred ice hockey manga, created by Satoru Noda, has commenced a one-month hiatus, as announced in this year’s 32nd issue of Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine. The temporary pause in serialization is attributed to Noda’s need to prepare for the release of the manga’s upcoming sixth compiled book volume. Shueisha is set to release this volume on August 19.
The series is slated to resume in the magazine’s combined 36th and 37th issue on August 7. This break follows previous instances where the author, Satoru Noda, has taken hiatuses to manage his health, specifically due to bicep tendonitis.
About Dogsred
Dogsred is an ice hockey manga that serves as a recreation or relaunch of Noda’s earlier work, Supinamarada!, which was serialized from 2011 to 2012. The narrative centers on Rou Shirakawa, a 15-year-old figure skater who, after achieving national championship glory, abandons his promising career due to an outburst of rage following his mother’s tragic death. Banned from figure skating, Rou relocates to Hokkaido with his sister. There, he encounters local ice hockey players who persuade him to join their struggling, soon-to-be-disbanded team as a stand-in. Despite his inexperience in ice hockey, Rou’s exceptional skating abilities become a crucial asset to the team.
Viz Media is actively releasing the manga in English. Satoru Noda is also widely recognized as the creator of the acclaimed Golden Kamuy manga, which concluded in April 2022.
