The highly anticipated second cour of Dr. Stone: Science Future, the fourth and final season of the Dr. Stone anime, is officially slated for release in July 2025. This announcement follows the conclusion of the first cour and promises to continue the science-driven adventure as Senku and his Kingdom of Science venture further into the unknown.
Final Season Split into Three Cours
The final season of Dr. Stone is structured into three separate cours, with the first cour consisting of 12 episodes that aired from January to March 2025. This split cour approach allows for a more focused adaptation of the remaining manga content, ensuring that the series reaches a satisfying conclusion. The exact number of episodes for the second and third cours is yet to be confirmed, but it’s speculated that each cour will contain between 8 and 12 episodes, potentially bringing the final season’s total episode count to around 30.
Storyline of Science Future
Dr. Stone: Science Future picks up where the third season, Dr. Stone: New World, left off. Having resolved the crisis in the Petrification Kingdom, Senku and his companions set their sights on the mastermind behind the petrification phenomenon, who is believed to reside on the moon.
To achieve this ambitious goal, Senku and the Kingdom of Science embark on a transcontinental journey aboard the ship Perseus to gather essential manpower and resources. Their initial destination is America, where they encounter new challenges and adversaries, including Dr. Xeno, a brilliant scientist who has established an authoritarian society using scientific technology that rivals Senku’s own.
The season explores themes of science versus power, as Senku and his team must outsmart their rivals to ensure the survival and rejuvenation of humanity. The journey also delves into the mysteries surrounding the petrification phenomenon and the enigmatic “Why-Man” on the moon.
Production
Dr. Stone: Science Future is produced by TMS Entertainment, with Shuhei Matsushita directing and Kurasumi Sunayama handling the series composition. Yuko Iwasa is responsible for the character designs, while Tatsuya Kato, Hiroaki Tsutsumi, and Yukihiro Kanesaka compose the music.
The opening theme song for the first cour is “Casanova Posse” performed by ALI, and the ending theme song is “Rolling Stone” performed by BREIMEN.
