A Glimpse into a War-Ravaged Future
Dusk Beyond the End of the World centers on Akira Himegami, a high school student who awakens 200 years in the future after undergoing cold sleep. He discovers a world ravaged by war and now governed by a new unified organization called OWEL. In this transformed society, a system known as “Elsie” (or “LC”) has replaced traditional marriage.
Upon his awakening, Akira encounters an android named Yugure, who bears a striking resemblance to his former girlfriend, Towasa Ōmaki. To Akira’s surprise, Yugure immediately proposes marriage to him. Convinced that Towasa must still be alive in this new world, Akira embarks on a journey with Yugure to find her, exploring the evolving forms of love and relationships between humans and androids in this futuristic setting.
