Anime’s Premise
Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord follows Van, the fourth son of a marquis, who realizes he has been reincarnated with memories from his past life as a Japanese salaryman. Initially considered a child prodigy, his family’s hopes are dashed when his “Production Magic” manifests at age eight, deemed “useless” compared to offensive magic. Banished to oversee a struggling frontier village, Van, armed with his past knowledge, his loyal maid Till, and his seemingly “worthless” magic, endeavors to transform the desolate outpost into a thriving fortified city. The original story by Sou Akaike began serialization on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in May 2020. Overlap began publishing the light novel series with illustrations by Kururi in September 2021, and a manga adaptation by Maro Aoiro has been serialized on Overlap’s Comic Gardo since August 2021. Seven Seas Entertainment licenses both the light novel and manga in English.
