Orange Inc.’s digital manga platform, emaqi, has announced a significant expansion to its catalog, introducing seven new manga series for North American readers this fall. The latest additions include highly anticipated titles such as the medical drama The 19th Medical Chart, the comedic sci-fi series Space Battleship Tiramisu, and the slice-of-life romance My Little Housekeeper, among others. These new series are now available on the emaqi app and online service, furthering the platform’s mission to provide officially licensed Japanese manga to a global audience.
Diving into emaqi’s New Fall Manga Lineup
The newly added manga span a variety of genres, offering something for diverse reader preferences, from intricate medical mysteries to lighthearted space comedies and heartwarming romantic tales.
The 19th Medical Chart: A Deep Dive into General Medicine
One of the highlight additions is The 19th Medical Chart (Japanese: 19 Banme no Karute Tokushige Akira no Monshin), a compelling medical drama written and illustrated by Fujiya Katsuhito, with supervision by Takeshi Kawashita. The series centers on the relatively new field of “General Medicine” in Japan, which emerged as the 19th medical specialty in 2018.
The story follows Takino, a third-year female doctor who grapples with the disparity between her idealized vision of a doctor who can “cure anything” and the reality of a highly specialized medical system. Her journey takes a pivotal turn with the appearance of Tokushige, a general practitioner who focuses on treating patients holistically rather than just their specific ailments. The 19th Medical Chart began serialization in December 2019 and has been collected into 11 tankōbon volumes as of June 2025. Notably, the series was adapted into a live-action drama that aired on TBS in Japan from July to September 2025.
Space Battleship Tiramisu: A Comedic Space Odyssey
For fans of science fiction and comedy, emaqi has launched Space Battleship Tiramisu (Japanese: Uchū Senkan Tiramisu). This unique manga series, written by Satoshi Miyakawa and illustrated by Kei Itō, offers a humorous take on life aboard a space battleship.
The plot revolves around Subaru Ichinose, an ace pilot on the Earth Federation’s newly constructed space battleship Tiramisu. Despite his exceptional skills, Subaru is an introvert who prefers to isolate himself in the cockpit of his personal fighter, “Durandal,” to avoid socializing with his older crewmates. The series chronicles his daily comedic struggles and eccentricities amidst the backdrop of an intergalactic conflict. Space Battleship Tiramisu was serialized from October 2015 to February 2020 and received an anime television series adaptation in 2018.
My Little Housekeeper: A Surprising Cohabitation Comedy
Another notable addition is My Little Housekeeper. This series delves into the comedic and often awkward situations that arise when a young protagonist finds their new live-in housekeeper is none other than a classmate. The premise often involves the challenges of maintaining a secret life while navigating both school and home with an unexpected cohabitant. While specific author details for emaqi’s version were not immediately available, such titles typically blend slice-of-life elements with romantic comedy, focusing on the developing relationship between the two main characters.
emaqi’s Growing Presence in Digital Manga
Launched in May 2025, emaqi is a digital manga store and app that aims to bring official and authentic Japanese manga directly to readers in the United States and Canada. The platform distinguishes itself by offering over 13,000 officially licensed volumes across 1,700 series from major Japanese publishers, including VIZ Media, Kodansha USA, Yen Press, and COAMIX.
A key aspect of emaqi’s strategy is to combat piracy by increasing the availability of legally translated manga. The service also features innovative discovery tools, such as the “Dig” feature for casual browsing and personalized recommendations, to help users find new series. Additionally, emaqi offers a “Wait Until Free” model, allowing readers to unlock exclusive translated chapters at no cost every 23 hours. The platform has committed to adding 100 never-before-translated manga series by the end of 2025, signaling its rapid expansion in the digital manga market.
