A Journey From Victim to Victor: The Series’ Premise
From Bullied to Brawler follows the story of Shiki, a timid and academically-focused high school student who finds himself at St. Lukeman’s Academy, a school notorious for its delinquent population. Constantly targeted by bullies, Shiki’s life takes an unexpected turn when he bravely assists a girl in distress. His act of kindness leads to him being saved by Karin, widely known as the “Empress” — the most formidable and beautiful girl in the school. In a unique arrangement, Karin offers to train Shiki in combat, while he, in turn, agrees to tutor her in academics, setting him on a path to personal growth and strength.
Serialization History and Creators
The original web novel series by Aitsu first launched in October 2022. The manga adaptation, illustrated by Takao Aoyagi, began its serialization in Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Age magazine in February 2024. The narrative of a bullied protagonist learning to fight back, often with the help of an unexpected mentor, resonated with readers looking for themes of empowerment and character development.
