“The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest” is a Japanese light novel series written by Alto and illustrated by Yuunagi. The story, which initially appeared on the user-generated fiction platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō in October 2020, follows Alec Yugret, a court magician who is suddenly dismissed by the crown prince for supposedly being a “worthless mage” only capable of using support magic. Now exiled, Alec revisits the magic academy where he encounters Yorha, a former party member. Together, they reunite their old party and embark on a new adventure to prove the true power of support magic.
The light novel series was later acquired by Kodansha, who began publishing it under their K Ranobe Books imprint in August 2021. As of August 2024, five volumes have been released. A manga adaptation illustrated by Yuki Monji began serialization on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket service in July 2021, and has been compiled into fifteen volumes as of April 2025. An anime television series adaptation produced by Gekkō is set to premiere in October 2025.
