The acclaimed manga series, Unmei no Makimodo Shi – All Great Achievements Require Time, by Fūta Kimura, is set to receive a television anime adaptation. The announcement was made through the opening of an official website on Thursday, July 10, 2025, which also unveiled a super teaser visual, promotional video, and the main staff for the upcoming series.
From Pages to Screen: The Journey of Unmei no Makimodo Shi
Fūta Kimura’s Unmei no Makimodo Shi (also known as Destiny Rewinders or Fate Rewinder) initially debuted as a one-shot in January 2022 before beginning serialization in Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Comics magazine the following month. The manga has since garnered significant attention, leading to its nomination in the 69th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2023, a testament to its growing popularity and critical recognition. As of July 28, the manga has released its 10th compiled book volume, with nine volumes having been released by April 2025.
Prior to the television anime, the manga had already inspired a net anime adaptation that premiered on YouTube in the spring of 2022. This earlier adaptation provided a glimpse into the dynamic world of Unmei no Makimodo Shi, building anticipation for a full-scale television series.
A Glimpse into the Narrative: The World of Rewinders
The story of Unmei no Makimodo Shi centers on a young boy named Chrono. Chrono possesses a unique ability known as the “Rewinder,” a power embedded in his right eye that allows him to manipulate and rewind time. He is an integral member of a clandestine time police unit. This special force is tasked with a crucial mission: to thwart “dark destinies” by traveling back in time and altering historical events. The manga’s narrative unfolds through Chrono’s various missions, which encompass a wide range of scenarios, from solving romantic predicaments and sports challenges to preventing terrorist attacks.
Key Staff Behind the TV Anime Adaptation
The production of the Unmei no Makimodo Shi – Fate Rewinder television anime is being handled by Bones Film, a studio renowned for its high-quality animation. Leading the project as director is Rie Matsumoto, an acclaimed figure in the anime industry known for her work on series such as Blood Blockade Battlefront, the Heartcatch Precure! Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show…Desu ka!? film, and Kyousougiga. Story Inc. is overseeing the production, further indicating the caliber of talent involved in bringing Fūta Kimura’s creation to the screen.
