The World of Gachiakuta
Based on the manga by Kei Urana, with graffiti art by Hideyoshi Ando, Gachiakuta delves into a unique dystopian world. The story follows Rudo, an orphan living in the impoverished slums of a floating town. This town operates on a stark class divide, with the affluent residing above and discarding their waste into an abyss where the poor reside.
Rudo’s life takes a drastic turn when he is falsely accused of murder and subsequently exiled into “The Pit,” the desolate lower realm filled with the discarded refuse of humanity. In this perilous environment, monstrous creatures born from the trash roam, and Rudo must learn to harness a new power. He joins a group called the Cleaners, who fight these “trash beasts” and seek to uncover the truth behind their world and the injustices he faced.
The series has already garnered significant attention, with global premiere events held in various locations, including Anime Expo in Los Angeles, where creators Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Ando were in attendance. Crunchyroll is also producing an English dub for the series, featuring Bryson Baugus as Rudo, Christopher Wehkamp as Enjin, Corey Wilder as Zanka, and Katie Caruso as Riyo.
