The first season of the highly anticipated Gachiakuta anime officially concluded on December 21, 2025, with its 24th episode delivering a series of shocking plot twists and significant cliffhangers. Fans, however, have little time to lament the finale, as Studio BONES immediately announced the production of a second season, ensuring Rudo’s journey will continue.

“Gachiakuta” Season One Wraps Up with 24 Episodes

The anime adaptation of Kei Urana’s popular manga, Gachiakuta, captivated audiences through its debut season, which ran for a total of 24 episodes. The final episode premiered on December 21, 2025, bringing the first arc of Rudo’s vengeful quest to a dramatic close. Crunchyroll streamed the series internationally, with new episodes released weekly. The English-dubbed version of the finale is expected to be available on Crunchyroll around January 4, 2026.

A Pivotal Finale: Plot Twists and Cliffhangers

The Gachiakuta season one finale ended with several critical revelations that left viewers eager for more. Key among these was the disclosure that Amo is alive but imprisoned, a dramatic turn after her presumed demise. Furthermore, the episode unmasked Tamsy as a villain and a traitor to the Cleaners, implicating him in a broader conspiracy. The finale also deepened the mystery surrounding protagonist Rudo, teasing a significant connection to the historical figure Canis Surebrec, who lived six generations prior and was associated with the Watchman Series. These developments set a high bar for the upcoming second season, promising intense narrative progression.

Season Two Officially Announced by Studio BONES

Following the conclusion of the inaugural season, the production staff officially confirmed that a second season of Gachiakuta has been greenlit. Animation studio BONES, renowned for its dynamic action sequences and distinctive visual style, will continue to helm the production. Fumihiko Suganuma will return as director, with Hiroshi Seko handling series scripts and Satoshi Ishino designing characters and serving as chief animation director. Original manga creator Kei Urana and graffiti designer Hideyoshi Ando both released special illustrations to commemorate the renewal, celebrating the anime’s continued success.

Expanding the “Gachiakuta” Universe: Game and Stage Adaptations

The Gachiakuta franchise is set for significant expansion beyond the anime, with additional adaptations announced. A mobile game, tentatively titled Gachiakuta The Game, is currently in development as a survival action RPG. This game aims to translate the anime’s unique setting and atmosphere into an interactive format, with Com2uS developing it for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Additionally, a stage adaptation is slated for 2026, further diversifying the ways fans can engage with the dystopian narrative.

The Enduring Popularity of the “Gachiakuta” Manga

The anime’s success builds upon the foundation of Kei Urana’s manga series, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in February 2022. With graffiti designs by Hideyoshi Ando, the manga has garnered critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. As of November 2025, 17 compiled volumes of the manga have been released in Japan. Kodansha USA has been publishing an English-language version of the series since January 2024. The first season of the anime adapted roughly up to chapter 88 of the manga, leaving ample material for future seasons.

Where to Watch and What to Expect Next

Fans can revisit the first season of Gachiakuta on Crunchyroll, which streams the series in numerous territories and offers an English dub. While specific release dates for Season 2, the mobile game, and the stage play are yet to be announced, the confirmation of these projects indicates a robust future for the Gachiakuta franchise. The series, praised for its unique graffiti-inspired animation and exploration of social inequality, has cemented its place as one of the standout anime of 2025.
