The upcoming two-part “Girls Band Cry” theatrical anime compilation films have released a new trailer and key art. The first film, titled “Seishun Kyoso Kyoko” (Youth Rhapsody), is scheduled to premiere in Japan on October 3, 2025, with the second film, “Naa, Mirai.” (Hey, Future.), following on November 14, 2025.
The compilation films will reconstruct the original “Girls Band Cry” TV anime series, which aired from April to June 2024, and will include new scenes. The newly unveiled trailer showcases the five members of the band TOGENASHI TOGEARI—Nina, Momoka, Subaru, Tomo, and Rupa—as they meet, clash, and ultimately progress through their music. The visual portrays each band member individually, capturing the subtle shifts in their relationships and their initial unstable state before they become a cohesive unit.
Kazuo Sakai, who directed the original series, returns to direct the compilation films, with Jukki Hanada handling the screenplay and script. Nari Teshima is responsible for character designs, and Kenji Tamai serves as the composer. The band formed by the protagonists in the anime, TOGENASHI TOGEARI, is linked to a real band, which has garnered attention. The anime series follows high school dropout Nina Iseri as she moves to Tokyo and forms the band with Momoka Kawaragi, Subaru Awa, Tomo Ebizuka, and Rupa, navigating their individual struggles and forging their paths through music.
