The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Syundei’s boys-love manga, Go For It, Nakamura!, originally slated for a 2025 release, has been delayed to 2026. The postponement was announced on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, with the production committee citing “production circumstances” and “production issues” as the reason for the delay. Crunchyroll, which was set to stream the series, confirmed the new 2026 broadcast window.
Advance Screenings Still Scheduled for August 2025
Despite the overall delay, fans in Tokyo, Japan, will still have the opportunity to see the first two episodes of the anime in advance. An special screening event is scheduled for August 24, 2025. This screening offers an early glimpse into the adaptation, even as the full broadcast release shifts to the following year.
Production Details and Creative Team
The Go For It, Nakamura! anime is being produced by Studio Drive. Aoi Umeki is at the helm as director, also taking on roles in scriptwriting and character design. Naoki Yoshibe serves as assistant director, while Yasuko Aoki from Studio Monado is responsible for series composition and co-writing scripts with Umeki. The musical score for the series is being composed by Ayana Tsujita.
Key Voice Cast Revealed
The main cast for the anime includes Chiaki Kobayashi as the protagonist, Okuto Nakamura, and Yuki Sakakihara as his crush, Aiki Hirose. Voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi and Junko Takeuchi, who previously participated in an audio drama adaptation of the manga, are also confirmed to appear in the anime in as-yet unrevealed roles.

The anime is based on Syundei’s beloved boys-love manga series, Go For It, Nakamura! (Japanese title: Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!). The original manga was serialized in Akane Shinsha’s Opera magazine from December 2014 to August 2016. It follows the story of Okuto Nakamura, a shy and introverted high school student who harbors a secret crush on his classmate, Aiki Hirose. The comedic series explores Nakamura’s often-bungled attempts to get closer to Hirose and overcome his shyness. A sequel, Go For It Again, Nakamura! (Motto Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!), was serialized from June 2017 to June 2021. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English-language version of the manga.
