The highly anticipated second season of the anime series Go! Go! Loser Ranger! has unveiled its main promotional video, showcasing the opening theme song and confirming the artists behind both the opening and ending tracks. Fans can mark their calendars for the season premiere on April 13, 2025.
‘Go! Go! Loser Ranger!’ Season 2: What to Expect
Go! Go! Loser Ranger!, also known as Ranger Reject, is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Negi Haruba, the creator of The Quintessential Quintuplets. The manga has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since February 2021. The first season of the anime adaptation, produced by Yostar Pictures, aired from April to June 2024. The series offers a unique take on the superhero genre, focusing on a villainous foot soldier’s quest to overthrow the powerful Dragon Keepers.
Theme Song Artists Announced
The main trailer for Season 2 introduces the opening theme song, “Maji de Sekai Kaechau 5 Byou Mae” (“5 Seconds Before the World Really Changes”), performed by the Okinawan rock band ORANGE RANGE. The ending theme song will be “Shogi” by Fukurow note.
Artist Comments
Both ORANGE RANGE and Fukurow note have shared their thoughts on their involvement with the anime:
- ORANGE RANGE: “We wrote this song specifically for the TV anime Go! Go! Loser Ranger! The protagonist, Footsoldier D, doesn’t possess any special abilities, yet he struggles desperately, fighting with everything he has. Instead of confidently ‘changing the world,’ he’s more of a ‘maybe I could change the world…?’ kind of character. I think many people will relate to this ‘not-so-strong’ protagonist who still pushes forward. We hope you enjoy this song, which serves as Footsoldier D’s theme song, embodying his impulsive and determined spirit.”
- Fukurow note: “We created the song “Shogi” for this anime. It focuses on people who hide their true nature, hurt what they hold dear, and even after losing everything, continue to live as a false version of themselves. The lyrics ask, ‘What meaning does justice have if you must go to such lengths to uphold it?’ It’s a powerful piece that explores this theme deeply. I’m truly honored to have been chosen to perform the ending theme. I hope listeners will enjoy how the song’s atmosphere connects with the story of the anime.”

Story Synopsis
The anime is set in a world where, thirteen years ago, the Villainous Army of Evil attempted to invade Earth but were defeated by the Super Sentai squadron known as the Divine Dragon Rangers (also known as the Dragon Keepers). However, the evil army was defeated within a year, with the surviving foot soldiers forced to reenact their defeat to the Keepers in front of an audience every Sunday.
The story follows a rebellious foot soldier, known as Footsoldier D, who seeks to defeat the Dragon Keepers from within. He allies with Yumeko Suzukiri, a mysterious ranger, to uncover the Dragon Keepers’ weaknesses and expose the farce of their staged battles. The new season will feature the “Dream School Arc,” where Footsoldier D is assigned to the Green Squad and investigates a “spirited away incident.”
