A new teaser trailer has been released for Golden Kamuy: Sapporo Beer Kōjō-hen (Golden Kamuy: Sapporo Beer Factory Arc), a two-part anime film project serving as a crucial prologue to the highly anticipated final arc of the Golden Kamuy television anime series. The films are set to premiere theatrically in Japan on October 10 and October 31, 2025, respectively.
The trailer offers a glimpse into the intense events awaiting fans, highlighting the central characters Sugimoto, Asirpa, and Shiraishi as they head to Sapporo to continue their hunt for the hidden gold. It also features the instrumental version of the films’ theme song, “Kogane no Kanata” (Beyond the Gold), performed by Awich × ALI.
The Sapporo Beer Factory Arc: A Crucial Prequel
The Sapporo Beer Kōjō-hen films are designed to bridge the narrative gap between the previous season and the upcoming final arc of the Golden Kamuy TV anime, which is slated to debut in January 2026. This two-part cinematic release adapts a pivotal story arc from Satoru Noda’s original manga, making it essential viewing for those who wish to follow the intricate plot with clarity.
The arc sees Sugimoto and Hijikata reluctantly cooperating after receiving information that a murder is set to occur at a Sapporo beer factory. Their ambush plans quickly descend into chaos with the unexpected involvement of the 7th Division and an escaped prisoner named Keiji Ueji, whom Sugimoto, Asirpa, and Shiraishi are also tracking. This sequence of events promises to intensify the high-stakes treasure hunt and survival battle that defines Golden Kamuy.
Returning Staff and Cast for the Prologue Films
The production of the Sapporo Beer Kōjō-hen films sees a largely returning staff and cast, ensuring continuity for the beloved series. Shizutaka Sugahara, who served as chief director for the fourth season, returns to helm these prologue films at Brains Base, the studio also responsible for the fourth season. Noboru Takagi is once again overseeing the scripts, and Takumi Yamakawa is handling character designs.
The familiar voices of the main characters will also return, with Chikahiro Kobayashi as Saichi Sugimoto, Haruka Shiraishi as Asirpa, and Kentarō Itō as Yoshitake Shiraishi. Other key cast members reprising their roles include Hōchū Ōtsuka as Lieutenant Tokushirō Tsurumi, Jōji Nakata as Toshizō Hijikata, and Kenjirō Tsuda as Hyakunosuke Ogata.
The Road to the Final Arc
The Golden Kamuy anime adaptation has a storied history, with its fourth season experiencing a delay due to the passing of a main staff member before resuming broadcast. The announcement of these prologue films and the January 2026 premiere for the final arc signals the much-anticipated conclusion to the anime adaptation of Satoru Noda’s acclaimed manga. The manga, which ran from 2014 to 2022 in Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine, concluded with 31 volumes and has over 29 million copies in circulation.
Fans can currently stream previous seasons of Golden Kamuy on Crunchyroll. Additionally, a live-action film adaptation of Golden Kamuy premiered in Japanese theaters in January 2024, with its story continuing as a live-action television series that premiered in October 2024 on Wowow.
