A full-length trailer has been released for Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Urðr Hunt – Path of the Little Challenger, offering an extensive look at the upcoming theatrical compilation film. The movie is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on October 31, 2025, with a North American release planned for a later date.

The trailer highlights the action and narrative of the Urðr Hunt spin-off, originally presented as a mobile game with animated sequences, now re-edited with new footage for the big screen. Accompanying the main feature will be a brand-new short film titled “Makuai no Kusabi” (Kusabi of the Interlude), featuring fan-favorite characters Mikazuki Augus and Orga Itsuka from the original Iron-Blooded Orphans series.

Unveiling the Urðr Hunt Narrative

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Urðr Hunt – Path of the Little Challenger adapts the storyline from the Iron-Blooded Orphans G mobile app, which launched in November 2022 and concluded its service in January 2024. The film follows Wistario Afam, a young man from the Radonitsa Colony near Venus, as he becomes embroiled in the titular “Urðr Hunt” while piloting the mysterious Gundam Hajiroboshi. The story is canonically set between the first and second seasons of the acclaimed Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans television series, providing additional context to the overarching narrative of the Post Disaster timeline.

“Makuai no Kusabi”: A Return to Tekkadan

The inclusion of the “Makuai no Kusabi” short film is a significant draw for fans of the original Iron-Blooded Orphans series. This new animated segment will feature the return of pivotal characters Mikazuki Augus (voiced by Kengo Kawanishi) and Orga Itsuka (voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya). The short is set after Tekkadan’s successful mission to escort Kudelia Aina Bernstein, exploring the organization’s burgeoning reputation and Orga’s struggles with his expanding leadership responsibilities. This brief yet impactful addition aims to bridge narrative gaps and delve deeper into the beloved crew’s journey.

Production and Staff Reunion

The theatrical project is part of the Iron-Blooded Orphans 10th-anniversary celebration. Many key creative talents from the original television series have returned for this compilation film and the new short. Tatsuyuki Nagai directs the project, with Hajime Kamoshida credited for the Urðr Hunt screenplay and Mari Okada for the “Makuai no Kusabi” screenplay. Character designs are handled by Michinori Chiba, based on original drafts by Yu Ito, while mechanical designs are overseen by Naohiro Washio and Kanetake Ebikawa. The evocative musical score is composed by Masaru Yokoyama, ensuring a consistent atmospheric experience. Animation is produced by Sunrise Beyond and Sunrise.

The Legacy of Iron-Blooded Orphans

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans originally premiered in 2015, gaining significant acclaim for its mature themes, gritty portrayal of child soldiers, and complex political landscape. The series explored themes of trauma, violence, and systemic oppression, resonating deeply with viewers. The theatrical release of Urðr Hunt and the new short film signifies a robust return to this impactful universe, promising to expand its lore and offer new perspectives on its enduring characters.

Japanese audiences can look forward to seeing Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Urðr Hunt – Path of the Little Challenger in cinemas from October 31, 2025. Further details regarding the North American release are expected to be announced soon.
