This miraculous second chance allows Haibara to try and avoid his previous mistakes, climb the school’s social ladder, and pursue the girl of his dreams, rather than endure three years of solitude. His journey involves a dedicated workout regimen, consulting online guides, seeking help from a childhood friend, and immense willpower to reshape his adolescence.
Light Novel and Manga Origins
The “Haibara’s Teenage New Game+” light novel series began its publication under Hobby Japan’s HJ Bunko imprint in December 2021. The series gained recognition by winning the grand prize at the 2020 HJ Novel Awards. J-Novel Club publishes the original novels in English, making the story accessible to a global audience.
Beyond the novels, the franchise has also inspired a full-color vertical manga adaptation by Misaomaru, which was serialized on Hobby Japan’s Comic Fire website from June 2023 to August 2024. A sequel manga, illustrated by Comochiya, began serialization on the same platform in December 2024.
