The highly anticipated “Harmony of Mille-Feuille” (also known by its Japanese title, Utagoe wa Mille-Feuille) anime project is officially set to premiere on July 17, 2025. This debut date was recently unveiled in a new promotional video and accompanying key visual released by the anime’s staff.
Unveiling the Premiere and Theme Song
The new trailer for Harmony of Mille-Feuille not only confirmed its July 17 broadcast start but also offered a preview of the anime’s opening theme song, titled “Omoidebanashi” (Nostalgic Talk). This theme song is performed by the main cast of the series. The series will initially debut on the TOKYO MX channel on July 17 at 9:25 p.m. JST, with new episodes airing on Thursdays. Various streaming platforms in Japan are also expected to offer the series on the same day. BS Fuji will begin broadcasting the series on July 18. Additionally, Aniplus-Asia is slated to simulcast the anime.
The Narrative of “Harmony of Mille-Feuille”
The anime centers on Uta Komaki, a first-year high school student who harbors a deep love for singing but is characterized by her extreme shyness and timid nature. Initially, Uta aims to join the light music club for her high school debut. However, her timid personality prevents her from taking the initial step due to the perceived dazzling presence of the club members. In a moment of despair, Uta encounters the world of a cappella music, a form of music created solely by the human voice. She subsequently receives an invitation to join the a cappella club from its president, Airi Kojou. The club is described as being filled with unique, and perhaps somewhat eccentric, individuals. The overarching theme suggests that even without being outwardly flashy or popular, a special kind of youth can be forged through harmonized voices, creating something truly unique.
Production and Cast Details
Harmony of Mille-Feuille is an anime adaptation of a music-themed mixed-media project that was first launched in April 2022 by Pony Canyon and Takuya Yamanaka. The project’s core themes revolve around “a cappella singing, high school girls, and complex.” Jumondou is responsible for the animation production of the series, with Kiyoto Nakajima serving as the director and Takuya Satō as the executive director. Takuya Yamanaka, who conceived the original concept, is also credited with writing the scripts. Character designs are handled by Chisato Kikunaga and Hitomi Kaiho, while Shun Narita is composing the music. Pony Canyon is also involved in producing the music for the anime.
