Haruka Mitsui’s popular shōjo manga series, “Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You” (Dōse, Koishite Shimaunda), is set to conclude its serialization in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine with the upcoming March 2026 issue. The final chapter will ship on February 3, 2026, marking the end of a run that began in November 2020.
The announcement came through the February 2026 issue of Nakayoshi, confirming the manga’s conclusion. The final chapter will be featured with a color opening page, and the series will grace the cover of the March issue.
A Journey of High School Romance and Pandemic Challenges
“Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You” tells the story of Mizuha Nishino, an aspiring manga artist whose 17th birthday in 2020 is anything but celebratory, marked by personal disappointments and the looming shadow of a global pandemic. Her life takes an unexpected turn when her longtime childhood friend, Kizuki, confesses his love, forcing Mizuha to confront her feelings amidst changing dynamics with her close-knit group of friends.
The series has resonated with readers for its exploration of adolescent romance and friendships, all set against the backdrop of an unprecedented global event. Kodansha USA Publishing has been releasing the manga in English, both digitally and in print, allowing a wider audience to follow Mizuha’s journey.
Serialization and Volume Releases
Mitsui began serializing the manga in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine in October 2020. As of August 2025, twelve tankōbon volumes have been released in Japan. The 12th volume, released in August, had previously hinted at the manga entering its “countdown” to climax. The 13th volume is slated to ship on January 13, 2026. Kodansha USA Publishing released the ninth English digital volume in February 2025 and the physical version in December 2025.
Anime Adaptation’s Success and Future
The manga’s popularity led to an anime television series adaptation, produced by Typhoon Graphics, which premiered in January 2025 and concluded its first season in March 2025. Crunchyroll streamed the series in North America and other regions, also offering an English dub.
Following the successful first season, a second season of the anime adaptation was promptly announced and is scheduled to premiere in January 2026, ensuring that fans will have more of Mizuha’s story to enjoy even as the manga concludes. The anime’s second season announcement coincided with the first season’s finale in March 2025. This ongoing anime presence is expected to keep the series in the public eye even after the manga’s final chapter.
