HIDIVE has officially announced its acquisition of the exclusive streaming rights for the upcoming TV anime series Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! (Japanese title: Mushoku no Eiyū: Betsu ni Skill Nanka Iranakattan da ga), slated for simulcast during the Fall 2025 season. The series is set to premiere in Japan in October 2025.
World Premiere at Anime NYC 2025
Ahead of its Fall 2025 streaming debut, HIDIVE will host the world premiere of the first episode of Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! at Anime NYC 2025. This event will take place from August 21–24 in New York City.
Series Overview and Production Details
Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! is an adaptation of the fantasy novel series written by Shichio Kuzu and illustrated by Yumehito Ueda. The story was initially published as a web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in November 2017. Earth Star Entertainment later began publishing the light novel series in July 2018, releasing four volumes, and an ongoing manga adaptation by Akio Nanae launched in Comic Earth Star in November 2018, with nine volumes currently available. One Peace Books publishes the English version of the manga.
The anime’s production is handled by Studio A-Cat, with Kaoru Yabana directing the series. Chabo Higurashi is responsible for supervising and writing the series’ scripts, Hiroto Morishita serves as the sound director, and Kento Asahina is composing the music.
Synopsis
The narrative of Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! unfolds in a world where a goddess bestows upon each individual a specific class and skills, determining their life’s path. The protagonist, Arel, is born to a Sword Princess and an Archmage but surprisingly receives neither a class nor any skills. Despite this inherent disadvantage, Arel is forced to rely on his innate determination, grit, and natural talents to strive for greatness, ultimately becoming a unique kind of hero—a hero without a class.
