The popular “I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too” franchise is expanding with a new anime television special. This announcement was made at AnimeJapan 2025, exciting fans who have been eagerly awaiting news about the series’ future. The new TV special follows the initial announcement of a sequel in October 2023, although the specific format of the continuation remained unclear until now.

Returning Cast and Staff

Fans of the original anime series will be pleased to know that the main cast and staff are returning for the TV special. This ensures continuity and maintains the quality that viewers enjoyed in the first season.

The returning cast includes:

  • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Yūya Tenjō
  • Akari Kitō as Kaori Hōjō
  • Kaori Maeda as Lexia von Arcelia

The key staff members reprising their roles are:

  • Chief Director: Shin Itagaki (also directing the special)
  • Character Designer: Hiromi Kimura
  • Planning and Production: UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS
  • Animation Production: Millepensee

What to Expect from the TV Special

While specific plot details about the TV special have not yet been revealed, the return of the original cast and staff suggests that it will continue the story and themes established in the first season. The series revolves around Yuuya Tenjo, a bullied boy who discovers a door to another world, granting him cheat skills and the ability to travel between both worlds. This allows him to transform his life in both the real world and the fantastical one.

Background on “I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World”

Light Novel and Manga

“I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World, Too,” often shortened to Iseleve, began as a web novel series written by Miku on the Kakuyomu website in March 2017. It was later acquired by Fujimi Shobo, who began publishing it as a light novel series in December 2018 under their Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. The light novel series has reached 17 volumes as of December 2024. Yen Press has licensed the novels for English publication.

A manga adaptation, illustrated by Kazuomi Minatogawa, has been serialized on ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki PlayStation Comic Web website since December 2019. As of July 2024, the manga has been compiled into six tankōbon volumes. Yen Press also publishes the manga in English.

Anime Series

The anime television series adaptation, produced by TMS Entertainment and animated by Millepensee, aired from April 7 to June 30, 2023. It consisted of 13 episodes and adapted the initial volumes of the light novel series. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired, including an English dub.

Spin-offs

The franchise has expanded with several spin-off novels, including:

  • I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World, Too: Girls Side, written by Ryō Kotohira and illustrated by Rein Kuwashima.
  • I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World, Too: The Story of Kaori Hōjō ~ The Ignorant Young Lady Saved the World Behind the Scenes, also written by Kotohira and illustrated by Kuwashima. This spin-off focuses on Kaori Hōjō and her magical adventures.

Reception

The “I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World” series has garnered significant attention, with over 3 million copies in circulation worldwide. The anime adaptation has been praised for its animation and engaging storyline, attracting a broad audience.

Potential for a Second Season

While the TV special is confirmed, the possibility of a second season of the anime remains a topic of speculation among fans. Given the popularity of the series and the amount of source material available (17 light novel volumes), a second season is certainly plausible. However, as of March 2025, there has been no official announcement regarding a full second season.

Release Information and Where to Watch

As of March 22, 2025, the release date for the “I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World” TV special has not been announced. Once released, it is likely that the special will be available on Crunchyroll, similar to the first season.

Other Media

In addition to the light novels, manga, and anime, the franchise also includes a browser game titled Isekai de Cheat Skill o Te ni Shita Ore wa, Genjitsu Sekai o mo Musōsuru – Level Up wa Jinsei o Kaeta : Parallel Universe. This MMORPG was released worldwide in multiple languages on the G123 platform in July 2024 and is free to play with optional in-app purchases.
