The television anime adaptation of Kōsuke Unagi’s light novel series, “I Left My A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths!” (A-Rank Party o Ridatsu Shita Ore wa, Moto Oshiego-tachi to Meikyū Shinbu o Mezasu.), has officially been greenlit for a second season. The announcement came shortly after the conclusion of its 24th and final episode of the first season, which aired on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

The anime, animated by BN Pictures, premiered in Japan on January 11, 2025 (effectively January 12 JST), and ran for two consecutive cours. Crunchyroll has been streaming the series as it aired, including an English dub.

A Tale of Abandonment and New Beginnings

The narrative centers on Yuke, a “lowly” red mage who, after enduring constant ridicule from his A-rank party, Thunder Pike, decides to abandon them. In his search for a new group, he reconnects with his former students—Marina, Silk, and Rain—and joins their party, Clover. Inspired by their admiration for him, Yuke begins to showcase his extraordinary magical abilities and skills, while simultaneously helping his students unlock their full potential. Their adventures lead them to become well-known throughout society and eventually entangle them in a larger conflict that threatens the world as they aim to conquer the challenging Achromatic Darkness dungeon.

Original Works and Production

The anime is based on Kōsuke Unagi’s light novel series, which features illustrations by Super Zombie. The light novel series concluded on February 28, 2025, with a total of five volumes published by Kodansha under their K Ranobe Books imprint. A manga adaptation by Yūri has also been serialized on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app since June 2021, with Kodansha USA releasing the manga digitally in North America.

Katsumi Ono directed the first season, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu overseeing and writing the series scripts, and Masakazu Yamazaki handling character designs. While a special illustration by Masakazu Yamazaki was shared to celebrate the second season announcement, details regarding the returning staff for the upcoming season remain unconfirmed as of the announcement.
