The popular light novel series, “Bōkensha License o Hakudatsusareta Ossan Dakedo, Manamusume ga Dekita node Nonbiri Jinsei o Ōkasuru” (officially translated as “I Lost My Adventurer’s License, but It’s Fine Because I Have an Adorable Daughter Now”), is officially receiving a television anime adaptation. The announcement was made during the GA FES 2026 livestream, delighting fans of the heartwarming fantasy series. A teaser visual and the anime’s official logo have been revealed, showcasing the series’ protagonists, Douglas and Rabi.
A New Chapter for a Beloved Fantasy Series
The TV anime adaptation marks a significant milestone for the series, which has garnered a substantial following through its light novel and manga iterations. The franchise, encompassing both the novels and their manga adaptation, has exceeded 2.2 million copies in circulation across print and digital formats. Original author Manimani Ononata and illustrator Fuzichoco shared celebratory comments and illustrations following the announcement, expressing their joy at seeing their characters come to life on screen.
The Story of Douglas and Rabi
“I Lost My Adventurer’s License, but It’s Fine Because I Have an Adorable Daughter Now” centers on Douglas Ford, a once-legendary enhancement spellcaster who, with age, finds his powers waning. Due to a condition that lowers his maximum HP with skill usage, his performance declines, leading to his expulsion from his hero party and the revocation of his adventurer’s license.
Becoming a vagabond, Douglas’s life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters Rabi, a young girl burdened by a curse. With no family, Rabi chooses to journey alongside Douglas, and a unique father-daughter bond begins to form between them. Their adventures involve taking on quests, helping those they meet, and sharing meals, deepening their connection despite not being related by blood.
From Web Novel to Anime Stardom
The series originally began as a web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2017. SB Creative’s GA Novel imprint then began publishing the light novel with illustrations by Fuzichoco in August 2018. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Fumi Tadaura with series composition by Itsuki Watanabe, launched on Square Enix’s Manga UP! service in November 2018. Both Comikey and Square Enix’s Manga UP! Global service publish the manga adaptation in English.
While a teaser visual and celebratory artwork have been released, further details regarding the anime’s staff, cast, and premiere date are yet to be announced. Fans are eagerly awaiting more information as Douglas and Rabi’s gentle yet heartfelt adventure prepares to unfold on television screens.
