The story follows a protagonist who, obsessed with magic in his previous life, is reincarnated as Lloyd, the seventh prince of the Kingdom of Saloum. Given his new circumstances, Lloyd is determined to master magic, unburdened by the constraints of lineage, talent, and effort that often dictate magical ability.
The series began as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in October 2019 before being acquired by Kodansha. The light novel series currently has eight volumes. A manga adaptation illustrated by Yōsuke Kokuzawa has been serialized in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket since June 2020, with 17 tankōbon volumes as of February 2025.
