You and Idol Precure♪, stylized as You and Idol PreCure♪, is a Japanese anime television series by Toei Animation. It’s the twenty-second installment in the Pretty Cure franchise. The anime series premiered in Japan on February 2, 2025, succeeding Wonderful Pretty Cure!
Story
The story begins in Hanamichi Town, where Uta Sakura, a cheerful and energetic second-year middle school student who loves to sing, lives. One day, while walking her dog Kyutarou (Kyu-chan), she discovers a giant peach-like object floating down the river. Inside, she finds Purirun, a cute fairy from Kirakiland who is searching for the legendary savior, Idol Precure.
Purirun reveals that Kirakiland is under threat from the Chokkiri Gang and their leader, Darkiine, who are plunging the land into darkness and stealing people’s “Kirakira” (sparkle). When the Chokkiri Gang begins stealing the sparkle of Hanamichi Town’s residents, Uta proclaims, “I want to sparkle! With my song!” This resolve grants her the Pretty Cure Ribbon and Idol Heart Brooch, allowing her to transform into Cure Idol.
The Idol Precures
Uta Sakura / Cure Idol: A lively and energetic second-year middle school student who loves to sing. Her family runs the cafe Cafe Glitter. Her catchphrase is “Kirakilala~♪”. She transforms into Cure Idol using the Idol Heart Brooch. Her theme color is pink.
Nana Aokaze / Cure Wink: A gentle and intelligent second-year middle school student in the same class as Uta, who has been friends with her since childhood. She is skilled at playing the piano. Nana transforms into Cure Wink using the Idol Heart Brooch. Her theme color is blue.
Kokoro Shigure / Cure Kyun-Kyun: A first-year middle school student who is good at dancing but hides her passion. She is a fan of the Cures and the leader of the Cure Idol and Cure Wink Research Club. Kokoro transforms into Cure Kyun-Kyun using the Idol Heart Brooch. Her theme color is purple.
The Villains
Team Chokkiri: The main antagonists of the series, who plunged Kirakiland into darkness and aim to steal people’s Kirakira. They are led by Darkiine. Their name is derived from chokkiri, meaning “snip”.

You and Idol Precure utilizes music and singing as a core theme. The Idol Precures use the power of song to fight against the Chokkiri gang and purify the Makkuranda (monsters).
When someone’s “Kirakilala” (spark of joy) is cut by Team Chokkiri, they turn into a monster called a Makkuranda. To revert a Makkuranda back to its human form, the Idol Precures use the power of song. The Makkuranda is transported to a seat in front of a stage where one of the Cures performs a solo. After the song, she unleashes a final attack that purifies the victim. Music serves as both a weapon against Team Chokkiri and a form of connection.
