The IDOLiSH7 franchise is hitting a major milestone, celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025 with a wave of exciting new projects for fans. The announcements, made during a special livestream on January 25, 2025, include a fourth season of the IDOLiSH7 anime, a compilation movie of the first season, and an adaptation of the ZOOL-focused storyline “Kikkō no Quarter.”

Fourth Season of the Anime Announced

The highly anticipated fourth season of the IDOLiSH7 TV anime is officially in the works. This season will continue the story from “IDOLiSH7 Third BEAT!,” the third season that aired in two parts in 2021 and 2022. Fans can expect more drama, compelling characters, and energetic dance numbers that have become a hallmark of the series.

IDOLiSH7 is based on a popular smartphone rhythm game where players manage the idol group IDOLiSH7, guiding them to success. The anime adaptation debuted in January 2018 and has since gained a dedicated following with its heartfelt story of idol growth.

Studio TROYCA has animated every season of the anime thus far. The main staff includes:

  • Director: Makoto Bessho
  • Series Composition: Ayumi Sekine
  • Character Designer: Kazumi Fukagawa
  • Music Composer: Tatsuya Kato

The main voice cast includes:

  • Toshiki Masuda as Iori Izumi
  • Yusuke Shirai as Yamato Nikaido
  • Tsubasa Yonaga as Mitsuki Izumi
  • KENN as Tamaki Yotsuba
  • Atsushi Abe as Sogo Osaka
  • Takuya Eguchi as Nagi Rokuya
  • Kensho Ono as Riku Nanase
  • Hiroki Takahashi as Gaku Yaotome
  • Wataru Hatano as Ten Kujo
  • Takuya Sato as Ryunosuke Tsunashi
  • Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Momo
  • Daisuke Namikawa as Yuki
  • Yuya Hirose as Haruka Isumi
  • Subaru Kimura as Toma Inumaru
  • Toshiki Masuda as Minami Natsume
  • Sho Nogami as Torao Akizuki

First Season Compilation Movie Coming to Theaters

In addition to the fourth season, a compilation movie of the first season of the anime is also planned. This movie will re-edit the 2018 TV anime into a format suitable for the big screen, offering fans a new way to experience the beginning of IDOLiSH7‘s journey.

ZOOL-Focused Story “Kikkō no Quarter” to be Adapted

Another exciting project announced is an adaptation of the “Kikkō no Quarter” storyline from the app game, focusing on the rival idol group ZOOL. The format for this adaptation has not yet been revealed.

ZOOL is known for its antagonistic role in the IDOLiSH7 universe, and “Kikkō no Quarter” delves into their backstory and motivations. This adaptation promises to offer a deeper understanding of ZOOL and their place in the IDOLiSH7 world.

A Decade of IDOLiSH7

IDOLiSH7 began as a smartphone rhythm game developed by Bandai Namco Online and released in 2015. The franchise has since expanded into numerous novels, live concerts, and the popular anime series.

The anime adaptation debuted in 2018, followed by “IDOLiSH7 Second BEAT!” in 2020 and “IDOLiSH7 Third BEAT!” in 2021 and 2022. In May 2023, the movie “Idolish7 LIVE 4bit BEYOND THE PERiOD,” a film version of the entire live performance from the series, was released.

The franchise has been a hit since its anime debut in January 2018, spanning three TV seasons and a theatrical release. The project features character design by Arina Tanemura.

Looking Ahead

With a fourth season of the anime, a compilation movie, and a ZOOL adaptation on the horizon, the IDOLiSH7 franchise is showing no signs of slowing down. These new projects promise to delight existing fans and draw in new viewers, cementing IDOLiSH7‘s place as a beloved and enduring multimedia franchise.
