The official website for the TV anime “‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess” has announced that the South Korean girl group ILLIT will perform the opening theme, while Japanese singer-songwriter Yuika will handle the ending theme for the upcoming second season, set to premiere in January 2026.
ILLIT to Deliver Opening Theme for First Japanese Anime Tie-up
The five-member South Korean girl group ILLIT, formed in 2023 through the audition program “R U NEXT?”, will provide the opening theme song for the highly anticipated second season. This marks the first time the multinational group, which includes two Japanese members, has contributed a theme song to a Japanese TV anime series. In a statement, ILLIT expressed their honor and excitement to be involved with an anime beloved by many in Japan, hoping their music will reach an even wider audience alongside the show. The title of their opening theme has not yet been revealed.
Yuika Pens Ending Theme for Beloved Series
Japanese singer-songwriter Yuika will perform the ending theme for the second season. The 20-year-old artist from Nara made her major debut with Universal Music in 2024. Yuika shared her enthusiasm, stating she was thrilled to be involved with a work she had followed even before her music career began. Inspired by the princess’s cheerful resilience despite her imprisonment, Yuika crafted a song conveying the sentiment of embracing each day, no matter how bewildering. She previously provided the ending theme “Yusari no Canon” for the first season of the TV anime Blue Orchestra in 2023. The title for her ending theme for “‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess” Season 2 is also currently unannounced.
Second Season Details and Global Streaming
The second season of “‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess” is slated to begin broadcasting in Japan in January 2026 on channels such as Tokyo MX, BS11, and Kansai TV, with early streaming available on ABEMA. Crunchyroll will stream the new season in numerous regions, including North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, the Indian subcontinent, and Southeast Asia. Mutsumi Tamura will join the cast as the new character Sakura Heartrock.
The anime adapts Robinson Haruhara and Hirakei’s fantasy comedy manga, which concluded its serialization on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ website in August 2025. The first season, directed by Yōko Kanamori at PINE JAM, premiered in January 2024 and consisted of 12 episodes. The series follows a princess held captive by the Hellhorde, who faces “merciless tortures” that often involve delectable treats and everyday comforts, tempting her to reveal her kingdom’s secrets. The first season’s opening theme was “Massakasa Magic!” by shallm, and the ending theme was “Ashita wa Ashita no Kaze ga Fuku” by Leevelles.
