The series promises a unique blend of sci-fi and isekai elements, following the story of Liam, a reborn protagonist who embraces his role as an “evil lord” in a vast interstellar empire.
Anime Set to Premiere in April 2025 on ANN Affiliates
The anime is scheduled to premiere on April 5, 2025, at 26:00 JST (effectively April 6 at 2:00 a.m.) in the “Animazing!!!” programming block on Japan’s ABC TV, TV Asahi, and 22 other channels. This highly anticipated series is produced by Quad, with Tetsuya Yanagisawa as the director and Katsuhiko Takayama handling the scripts. Kazuya Morimae is in charge of character designs, while Yūsuke Seo and Shun Narita compose the music.
New Cast Member Revealed: Toshiya Miyata as Liam’s Previous Life
The latest announcement introduces Toshiya Miyata as the voice actor for Liam in his previous life. This role sheds light on Liam’s past as an employee of an exploitative company, where he faced bullying from his superiors and worked tirelessly for his family. I’m the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire! began as a web novel series written by Yomu Mishima on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in August 2018. Overlap acquired the series in July 2020 and began publishing it in print with illustrations by Nadare Takamine.
Manga Adaptations
The series has also inspired two manga adaptations:
- I’m the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire!, illustrated by Kai Nadashima, which began serialization on Overlap’s Comic Gardo manga website on May 29, 2021.
- I’m the Heroic Knight of an Intergalactic Empire!, a spin-off illustrated by Jū Ishiguchi, which began serialization on Comic Gardo on July 21, 2023.
Both the original light novel series and its manga adaptations have been licensed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Story Synopsis
The story follows Liam, who is reborn into the ruling family of a vast interstellar empire. Remembering his past life as a moral and responsible person who died in debt and betrayed, Liam decides to embrace his new role as an “evil lord.” He resolves to live for himself, taking what he wants and not caring about the downtrodden. However, his actions are often misinterpreted by his subjects, who see him as a wise and benevolent ruler despite his intentions.
