The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Mika Yamamori’s popular romance manga, “In the Clear Moonlit Dusk” (Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki), is set to premiere on January 11, 2026. The official debut date was confirmed through the release of the anime’s latest promotional video, offering fans a glimpse into the animated world of the “two princes” story.

Premiere Date and Broadcast Information

“In the Clear Moonlit Dusk” will officially begin its broadcast on January 11, 2026, across TBS and its 28 affiliated networks in Japan. While international streaming details are yet to be fully announced, it is anticipated that platforms like Crunchyroll or Netflix will carry the series shortly after its Japanese premiere, following the trend for major romance anime titles.

Glimpse into the Promo Video and Theme Songs

The recently unveiled promotional video provided the first animated look at the beloved shōjo series, showcasing the initial encounters between the main protagonists, Yoi Takiguchi and Kohaku Ichimura. The teaser highlights the elegant visual style of the animation produced by East Fish Studio.

Adding to the excitement, the promo video also announced that UNISON SQUARE GARDEN will perform both the opening and ending theme songs for the anime. The opening theme is titled “Uruwashi” (うるわし; ‘Beautiful’), and the ending theme is “Azalea no Kaze” (アザレアの風; ‘Azalea Wind’). Band member Tomoya Tabuchi, a long-time admirer of manga artist Mika Yamamori, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting their aim to bring a “sharpness only a rock band can offer” to the series.

Cast and Production Team Bringing the Romance to Life

The anime boasts a talented cast and experienced production team. Rei Ichinomiya is set to voice Yoi Takiguchi, while Ryota Suzuki takes on the role of Kohaku Ichimura. Further cast members include Aya Yamane as Nobara Tone and Momoko Seto as Kotobuki Hibiya.

Behind the scenes, the series is being helmed by Yusuke Maruyama as director. Ayumu Hisao is responsible for the series composition, with Yuki Fukuda handling character designs and Tsubasa Ito composing the music. East Fish Studio is in charge of the animation production.

Unveiling the Story of the “Two Princes”

“In the Clear Moonlit Dusk” tells the romantic tale of Yoi Takiguchi, a high school student often mistaken for a handsome boy due to her striking features, tall stature, and deep voice. Consequently, she has earned the nickname “Prince” among her peers. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Kohaku Ichimura, another student widely known as a “Prince” for his wealth and charm.

Unlike others, Kohaku seems to see beyond Yoi’s “princely” exterior, recognizing her true self. The story explores their evolving relationship as these two high school “princes” navigate their identities and feelings, slowly revealing more of themselves to each other.

Manga Origins and Reception

The anime is adapted from Mika Yamamori’s original manga series, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Dessert magazine in July 2020. As of May 2025, the series has collected nine tankōbon volumes. Kodansha USA publishes the series in English, making it accessible to a wider international audience.

The manga has garnered significant praise for its graceful artwork, mature emotional depth, and its progressive portrayal of gender expression. It has been nominated for the Kodansha Manga Award multiple times and won the Grand Prize of the 2023 ebookjapan Manga Award, cementing its status as a beloved romance series.
