The highly anticipated television anime adaptation of Fuyu Azuma’s romantic comedy manga, Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota (Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Ōta-kun), has announced its theme song artists and confirmed an October 4, 2025, premiere date. The news came via a new visual and promotional video released by Sony Music on Friday.
Premiere Details and Broadcast Schedule
The anime is set to begin its broadcast on Tokyo MX on October 4, 2025. Following its debut, it will also air on Kansai TV on October 5, BS11 on October 6, and AT-X on October 7, ensuring wide availability for fans across Japan. This announcement follows a world premiere screening of the first episode at Anime Expo on July 3, giving international audiences an early glimpse.
Theme Song Artists Bring Emotion to the Series
The newly released video highlighted the talented artists who will be contributing to the anime’s musical landscape. Hashimero will perform the opening theme song, titled “Hyakumensō” (Funny Faces), while Sangatsu no Phantasia is set to perform the ending theme song, “Amanojaku Hero” (Contradiction-Filled Hero). These musical selections are expected to complement the heartwarming and comedic tone of the series.
A Glimpse into the Story: Opposites Attract
Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota centers on the unique dynamic between its two titular junior high school students. Kashiwada-san is a girl who, regardless of the situation, never displays emotions on her face. In stark contrast, Oota-kun is a boy whose every feeling is overtly expressed. The story follows Oota-kun’s continuous, often failed, attempts to elicit a reaction or surprise from Kashiwada-san. Despite their seemingly opposite personalities, a heartwarming romantic comedy unfolds, hinting at a mutual affection between the two.
