Tokyo, Japan — The popular isekai fantasy light novel series, The Strongest Man, Born From Misfortune, known in Japan as Fuun kara no Saikyou Otoko, is officially being adapted into a TV anime. Japanese publisher Starts Publishing Corporation announced the highly anticipated adaptation on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, much to the excitement of fans worldwide.
The announcement marks a significant milestone for the series, which has garnered a substantial following since its inception as a web novel. The anime will bring to life the journey of Siegbert, a protagonist reborn into a world where his past misfortunes are dramatically reversed, only to find new, albeit perilous, challenges.
From Web Novel to Anime Sensation
The Strongest Man, Born From Misfortune began its life as a web novel, originally serialized by author Fukufuku on the Japanese novel self-publishing website Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2017. A revised version of the story later launched in November 2020. Its growing popularity led Starts Publishing Corporation to pick up the series for print, releasing it as a light novel with illustrations by Zunn Nakabayashi starting in March 2022. As of March 2025, four volumes of the light novel have been published.
The series’ reach expanded further with a manga adaptation, also illustrated by Zunn Nakabayashi. This manga began serialization in Starts Publishing’s online magazine Comic Glast in October 2021 and has since compiled eight tankōbon volumes as of September 2025. The cumulative number of copies published across the entire series, including both print and digital editions of the novels and manga, has surpassed an impressive 1.5 million units.
A Life Reborn with Abnormal Luck
The narrative centers on Siegbert, a man whose previous life was plagued by an endless string of misfortunes. Following a fateful accident, he is reincarnated into a new world. Initially, he believes he is destined for a peaceful existence, blessed with a warm and welcoming new family. However, a twist of fate reveals he now possesses an abnormally high “luck” stat and immense magic power.
This extraordinary luck, while seemingly advantageous, acts as a magnet for “chances” – opportunities that, if seized, can make his wishes come true. Yet, these chances often present themselves as life-or-death situations, forcing Siegbert and those around him to confront formidable enemies. Armed with his exceptional magic power and an “appraisal eye,” Siegbert is determined to overcome these odds and protect his loved ones in a world far more complex than he initially imagined.
