Kadokawa has begun streaming a teaser promotional video for Isekai Quartet 3, the highly anticipated third season of the popular chibi-style crossover anime, on Friday. The latest season is set to welcome new fan-favorite characters from The Eminence in Shadow to its already expansive roster.
New Worlds, New Faces: The Eminence in Shadow Joins the Ensemble
The upcoming third season will officially integrate characters from the popular series The Eminence in Shadow into the eccentric school setting. This means fans can look forward to seeing Cid Kagenou, also known as Shadow, and members of his secret organization, Shadow Garden, in chibi form. Beyond The Eminence in Shadow, the teaser also revealed additional characters joining from existing franchises, including Otto Suwen and Garfiel Tinsel from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-.
These new additions will interact with the beloved cast from the core Isekai Quartet franchises: Overlord, KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, and The Saga of Tanya the Evil. Characters from The Rising of the Shield Hero, who joined in Season 2, will also return.
Returning Creative Team and Voice Cast
The production of Isekai Quartet 3 sees the return of key staff members who have shaped the series’ distinctive comedic style. Minoru Ashina is once again directing and writing the script for the anime at Studio Puyukai. Minoru Takehara is returning as both character designer and chief animation director, ensuring the continuation of the charming chibi aesthetic. Ruka Kawada will also be back to compose the music, maintaining the series’ familiar auditory landscape.
The extensive voice cast is largely reprising their roles, bringing their iconic characters to life. Confirmed returning voice actors include Yūsuke Kobayashi as Subaru (from Re:Zero) and Warren Grantz (from Saga of Tanya the Evil), Satoshi Hino as Ains (from Overlord), Jun Fukushima as Kazuma (from Konosuba), Aoi Yūki as Tanya (from Saga of Tanya the Evil), and Kaito Ishikawa as Naofumi Iwatani (from The Rising of the Shield Hero). Seiichirō Yamashita joins the cast as Cid Kagenou/Shadow, the protagonist of The Eminence in Shadow. Other notable returning cast members include Rie Takahashi (Emilia/Megumin), Yumi Hara (Albedo), Sora Amamiya (Aqua), and Saori Hayami (Visha/Raphtalia/Alpha/CZ2128 Delta), with several voice actors performing multiple roles across the crossover series.
Background and Anticipated Release
