Karin Anzai’s romantic comedy manga, It Takes More Than a Pretty Face to Fall in Love (Kao Dake ja Suki ni Narimasen), is confirmed to conclude in five more chapters. The announcement was made in the 14th issue of Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine, released on Friday, June 20, 2025.
The series, which began serialization in July 2020 in the shōjo manga magazine, has garnered a dedicated fanbase. Both Comikey and Seven Seas Entertainment publish the manga in English, with Comikey offering digital releases and Seven Seas Entertainment handling print editions.
The Story So Far
It Takes More Than a Pretty Face to Fall in Love centers on Sana Chiken, a high school freshman who enrolls at Minowa Sougou High School with the hopes of meeting her ideal man, the influencer Kanato Ugo. Upon encountering him, Sana discovers that Kanato is on the verge of expulsion due to excessive class skipping.
Determined to prevent his expulsion, Sana takes on the responsibility of managing the school’s social media, leveraging Kanato’s good looks to gain followers. The manga follows their evolving relationship as they work together, leading to a series of sweet and thrilling moments.
Publication Details and Adaptations
As of March 2025, Hakusensha has published 14 compiled book volumes of the manga. The 15th volume is scheduled for release on August 20, 2025. In English, Seven Seas Entertainment released the second volume on May 20, 2025, with the third volume slated for August 19, 2025.
Beyond the manga, the series also inspired a live-action film adaptation. The movie premiered in Japan on March 7, 2025.
