Warner Bros. Japan has released a new promotional video for the highly anticipated JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run anime, offering fans a first look at the main characters and their voice actors. The anime adaptation of Hirohiko Araki’s critically acclaimed manga is slated to premiere on Netflix in 2026.

The trailer, unveiled on September 23, 2025, during a special event at Takeshiba Port Hall in Tokyo, introduced the voices behind several pivotal figures in the cross-continental race across America.

Key Characters Highlighted in the Trailer

The video prominently features the central protagonists and antagonists who will drive the bizarre and epic narrative of Steel Ball Run. Their character designs, largely consistent with previously revealed key visuals, were showcased with dynamic animation.

Johnny Joestar

The former jockey, now paralyzed, who embarks on the Steel Ball Run race to uncover the secret behind Gyro Zeppeli’s “Spin” and regain the use of his legs, is voiced by Shōgo Sakata. Sakata, known for his role as Aki in Chainsaw Man, expressed his view of Johnny as a deeply “human-like character” defined by his weaknesses.

Gyro Zeppeli

The eccentric executioner from the Kingdom of Naples and master of the Spin, Gyro Zeppeli, joins the race seeking amnesty. He forms an unlikely partnership with Johnny. Yohei Azakami takes on the role of Gyro. Azakami, a long-time fan of the manga, spoke of the “pressure and excitement” of auditioning for the complex character.

Diego Brando

The immensely talented and cunning rival racer, Diego Brando, is brought to life by Kaito Ishikawa. Ishikawa describes Diego as a rival to both Johnny and Gyro, possessing great talent, experience, and intelligence.

Lucy Steel

The resilient and resourceful wife of Steven Steel, who becomes entangled in the race’s deeper mysteries, is voiced by Rie Takahashi. Takahashi’s previous notable roles include Megumin in Konosuba.

Steven Steel

The organizer of the arduous Steel Ball Run race, Steven Steel, is voiced by Kenta Miyake. Miyake is a returning JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure voice actor, having previously voiced Muhammad Avdol in Stardust Crusaders. His energetic portrayal in the trailer has already generated significant excitement among fans.

Production Details and Anticipation

The Steel Ball Run anime is being produced by David Production, the studio behind all previous JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime adaptations. Directors Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi, who previously helmed Golden Wind, are co-directing this season, with Toshiyuki Kato as Series Director. Yasuko Kobayashi, the longtime series composer for the franchise, is also returning.

The announcement event featured not only the trailer and cast reveals but also discussions with the voice actors about their experiences with the characters and the audition process. Shogo Sakata, for instance, practiced Johnny Joestar’s iconic “Ora Ora” line relentlessly for his audition.

Fans eagerly await the 2026 release of Steel Ball Run on Netflix, which promises to adapt the seventh part of Hirohiko Araki’s epic manga, known for its unique setting, compelling characters, and intricate plot.
