A new Jujutsu Kaisen compilation film, titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, will premiere in North American theaters on December 5, 2025. This special theatrical release will feature a compilation of the intense Shibuya Incident arc from Season 2 and, significantly, offer an early preview of the first two episodes of the highly anticipated Season 3, which will adapt the Culling Game arc.
The film, known in Japan as Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution -Shibuya Incident x The Culling Game Begins-, made its debut there on November 7, 2025. GKIDS is distributing the film in North America, with screenings available in both original Japanese audio with subtitles and an English dubbed version.
The Shibuya Incident: A Recap of Unprecedented Chaos
The Shibuya Incident arc, covered in the latter half of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, is widely regarded as one of the anime’s most pivotal and action-packed storylines. It depicts a massive, coordinated attack by curse users and spirits on the Shibuya district, designed to seal away the powerful Satoru Gojo. This event unleashes unprecedented chaos, forcing Yuji Itadori and other Jujutsu sorcerers into a brutal, high-stakes battle against formidable foes like Sukuna, Mahito, and Kenjaku. The compilation film aims to present this critical arc in a special format, offering a fresh viewing experience for fans and an accessible entry point for newcomers.
An Early Glimpse into the Culling Game Arc
One of the most exciting aspects of Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution is the inclusion of the first two episodes of Season 3, The Culling Game Part 1. The Culling Game arc follows the devastating aftermath of the Shibuya Incident, where Noritoshi Kamo orchestrates a deadly battle royale across ten colonies in Japan, transforming them into dens of curses.
Season 3 is officially slated to premiere in January 2026, with a teaser trailer for The Culling Game unveiled during an August 31, 2025, livestream for the anime’s fifth anniversary. The upcoming season will focus on Special Grade sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu, the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, who is assigned to execute Yuji Itadori for his perceived crimes during the Shibuya Incident. The film promises to showcase the highly anticipated confrontation between Satoru Gojo’s two beloved students.
Context for Season 3: The Road Ahead
The decision to release a compilation film with a Season 3 preview comes after Jujutsu Kaisen fans have eagerly awaited updates on the next season. Studio MAPPA is continuing its adaptation of Gege Akutami’s manga, with Shota Goshozono directing Jujutsu Kaisen The Culling Game, and Hiroshi Seko returning as series composer. While the manga concluded in September 2024, the anime continues to adapt its acclaimed storyline.
Previous Jujutsu Kaisen films include Jujutsu Kaisen 0, a prequel movie released in 2021 that told the story of Yuta Okkotsu and his cursed spirit Rika. Another compilation movie for the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” arc of Season 2 was also released in Japanese cinemas on May 30, 2025, and in North America in July, but that focused on Gojo and Geto’s past. This new film, Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, provides a direct bridge between Season 2 and the forthcoming Season 3, aiming to re-engage fans with the intense narrative and introduce the stakes of the Culling Game arc on the big screen.
