Shueisha’s vertical-scrolling manga service, Jump TOON, has announced the launch of five new manga series set to debut in August and September, alongside a highly anticipated full-color, vertical-scrolling version of Naoya Matsumoto’s popular series, Kaiju No. 8. These announcements, made in the 38th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, signal a significant expansion for the platform.
Expanding the Jump TOON Library
The five new series cover a range of genres and feature both established and emerging creators, further diversifying Jump TOON’s offerings. These additions are part of Shueisha’s strategy to embrace the vertical-scrolling format, popular in the webtoon market. Jump TOON itself launched in 2024, indicating Shueisha’s commitment to adapting to evolving digital reading trends.

Kaiju No. 8 Enters the Vertical-Scrolling, Full-Color Realm
Perhaps one of the most anticipated announcements is the debut of a full-color, vertical-scrolling version of Naoya Matsumoto’s critically acclaimed Kaiju No. 8. This new edition will begin serialization on Jump TOON starting September 1.
Kaiju No. 8, also known as Monster #8, has garnered immense popularity since its original serialization on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ app and website in July 2020, concluding on July 18, 2025. The series follows Kafka Hibino, a man who gains the ability to transform into a kaiju and uses his powers to fight alongside the Japanese Defense Force. Its success led to an anime adaptation, with the first season premiering in April 2024 and a second season debuting on July 19. The vertical and full-color format on Jump TOON aims to offer fans a fresh and immersive way to experience the beloved series, aligning with modern digital reading preferences.
