Kodansha’s K Manga service has officially added Nikki Asada’s latest manga, The Serenade of Spring Thunder (original title: Yawahada ni Shunrai), to its English-language lineup. The digital platform launched the series with its first 10 chapters available for readers.
The new historical romance series by the acclaimed mangaka, known for her diverse works and character designs, offers a unique blend of deception and unexpected love set in a turbulent era.
Diving into The Serenade of Spring Thunder
The Serenade of Spring Thunder is described as a “mismatched Priestess vs. Shinobi romance set in the era of warring states!” The story centers on Kagaribi, a shinobi renowned for his beauty, who is tasked with an extremely perilous mission: to infiltrate hostile territory and win the heart (and body) of the priestess, Rindo. This mission, designed to be a love trap for political gain, takes an unforeseen turn, promising a tale filled with intrigue and romantic complications.
Nikki Asada first launched Yawahada ni Shunrai in Kodansha’s Be Love magazine on April 1. The English release on K Manga allows international fans to follow the series concurrently with its Japanese serialization.

Understanding the K Manga Platform
K Manga is Kodansha’s official manga distribution service, launched specifically for U.S. readers on May 10, 2023. The platform aims to increase accessibility for American manga fans by offering official translations of a wide array of titles. It features nearly 400 titles, including Kodansha’s well-known series like Attack on Titan, Tokyo Revengers, and Fairy Tail, as well as simulpub titles that release chapters simultaneously with Japan.
