Kodansha USA’s K Manga subscription service has recently broadened its English-language offerings by adding two notable manga series, “Solo Camping for Two” (Futari Solo Camp) and “Dekin no Mogura” (also known as “The Banned Mole” or “The Banned Mogura”). This announcement, made via the service’s X (formerly Twitter) account, brings both acclaimed titles to a wider international audience, coinciding with the premiere of their respective TV anime adaptations in July.

Solo Camping for Two

“Solo Camping for Two” is a popular camping-themed manga that delves into the intricacies of outdoor life and unexpected companionship.

Overview and Plot

Authored by Yūdai Debata, “Solo Camping for Two” introduces Gen Kinokura, a 34-year-old solo camper who cherishes his solitary outdoor excursions. His preference for isolation is challenged when he encounters Shizuku Kusano, a 20-year-old novice with no prior camping experience. Despite Gen’s solitary nature, the two find themselves engaging in a unique form of “solo camping” together, exploring the dynamics of shared solitude in the wilderness. The manga is described as a “neo-camping bible” and has sold over 3 million copies.

Publication Details

Yūdai Debata originally launched “Solo Camping for Two” in Kodansha’s Evening magazine in 2018. Following the cessation of Evening in February 2023, the series briefly ran in the Comic Days manga app before resuming serialization in Kodansha’s Morning magazine in December 2023. As of April 2025, Kodansha has released 20 compiled tankōbon volumes of the manga. K Manga began publishing the digital English version in June 2025.

Anime Adaptation

The manga has inspired both a live-action series and an upcoming anime adaptation. A live-action drama premiered in January 2025. The television anime adaptation is scheduled to premiere on Tokyo MX on July 10, BS Asahi and Nagasaki Culture Telecasting Corporation on July 11, and Yomiuri TV on July 15. Crunchyroll is set to stream the anime as it airs. “Solo Camping for Two” was also nominated for the 45th Annual Kodansha Manga Awards in 2021.

Dekin no Mogura

“Dekin no Mogura” presents a mysterious and supernatural narrative from the acclaimed author Natsumi Eguchi.

Overview and Plot

“Dekin no Mogura,” also known as “The Banned Mole” or “The Banned Mogura,” is created by Natsumi Eguchi, known for “Hozuki’s Coolheadedness.” The manga centers on university students Magi and Yaeko, whose lives take an bizarre turn after they witness a Kōjien dictionary falling on a man’s head. Despite bleeding, the injured man mysteriously refuses medical or police assistance, raising suspicions. Following this strange encounter, Magi and Yaeko begin to experience and see unusual phenomena, hinting at a hidden world beyond their perception. The series explores themes of mystery and the supernatural.

Publication Details

Natsumi Eguchi began serializing “Dekin no Mogura” in Kodansha’s Morning magazine in April 2021. The manga is also accessible on the Comic Days service. The ninth compiled book volume shipped on April 23, 2025, with the tenth volume scheduled for release on July 23, 2025. K Manga has licensed and is publishing the English digital version of the series.

Anime Adaptation

An anime adaptation of “Dekin no Mogura: The Earthbound Mole” is also set to premiere. The television anime will begin airing on Tokyo MX on July 7 at 10:00 p.m., followed by a broadcast on BS11 later the same evening. Crunchyroll will be streaming the anime concurrently with its Japanese broadcast.
