The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Hey’s “Kamiina Botan, Yoheru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana” (Botan Kamiina, Her Drunken Appearance Is Like a Lily Flower) manga is officially slated to premiere in April 2026. Voice actress Sayumi Suzushiro has been confirmed to take on the starring role of the titular character, Botan Kamiina.

Anime Adaptation Details and Production Team

The announcement, made via the anime’s official X/Twitter account, has set the stage for fans to mark their calendars for next spring. The television series is being animated by Studio Soigne and produced by Aniplex.

Leading the production is director Takashi Sakuma, known for his work on “16bit Sensation: Another Layer” and as an episode director for “Solo Leveling.” He is joined by assistant director Shuntarō Tozawa. The series scripts are being handled by Yōko Yonaiyama, who previously worked on “A Sign of Affection.” Character designs are by Kou Yoshinari, with Kana Hashiguchi composing the music. Yūsuke Matsuo and Miyachi are credited as the main animators.

Exploring the Drunken Yuri Comedy’s Premise

“Kamiina Botan, Yoheru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana” is a yuri manga series that blends comedy with slice-of-life elements, centering on the charming antics of its protagonist. The story follows Botan Kamiina, a 20-year-old university student residing in Chichibu, Saitama, who embarks on her first foray into the world of alcohol. Her initiation into drinking occurs after an encounter with Ibuki Tonami, the leader of her dormitory.

As Botan discovers the effects of alcohol, she undergoes a delightful transformation, becoming notably bolder and more outspoken, often uttering surprising remarks while inebriated. This newfound tipsy persona fosters a unique and close friendship with Ibuki, as they frequently become drinking partners. The manga is described as a “tipsy teasing girl’s comedy,” promising humorous and heartwarming interactions between the characters as Botan explores various alcoholic beverages.

Sayumi Suzushiro in a Starring Role

The casting of Sayumi Suzushiro as Botan Kamiina brings a well-regarded voice to the lead character. Suzushiro is a prominent Japanese voice actress affiliated with Arts Vision, celebrated for her versatile performances across numerous anime titles.

Suzushiro’s Notable Contributions to Anime

Sayumi Suzushiro made her debut as a voice actress in 2017 and quickly rose to prominence, playing her first main role as Akira Ono in the 2018 anime television series Hi Score Girl. Her career highlights include voicing Uruka Takemoto in We Never Learn and Wise in Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?. More recently, she has been recognized for her role as Nijika Ijichi in the popular series Bocchi the Rock! Her talent was formally acknowledged in 2020 when she received the Best Rookie Award at the 14th Seiyu Awards. Her extensive experience and distinctive voice are expected to bring Botan Kamiina to life.

Manga’s Publication Journey

The original “Kamiina Botan, Yoheru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana” manga, created by Hey, began its serialization on Akita Shoten’s Champion Cross (Manga Cross) web service in March 2019. The series has consistently released new volumes, with five volumes available as of August 2024 and the sixth volume shipping in March 2025. The manga’s established popularity forms a strong foundation for its highly anticipated anime adaptation.
