A third season for the anime series Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc has been officially announced. The news broke during the Kinnikuman Chojin Festival 2025 event held on August 3, where it was confirmed that the production of a new season is underway. This continuation will pick up the story after the battle at the Tottori Sand Dunes, involving Kinnikuman, Buffaloman, and the Justice/Devil Allied Forces against Nemesis and the Perfect Infinite Army.
The Return of a Wrestling Icon
The Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc anime, produced by Production I.G, is based on the popular fighting manga by the duo Yudetamago (Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada). The original Kinnikuman manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1979 to 1987, and later resumed in 2011 in Shu Play News. The franchise has a long history, with the first anime adaptation airing from 1983 to 1986.
The current Perfect Origin Arc anime premiered in July 2024, with its first season running until September 2024. The second season followed shortly after, airing from January to March 2025. Both previous seasons have been streamed worldwide on Netflix. Akira Sato directs the series, with Makoto Fukami handling series composition, Hirotaka Marufuji designing the characters, and Yasuharu Takanashi composing the music. Mamoru Miyano voices the titular character, Kinnikuman.
What to Expect in Season 3
The upcoming third season is set to delve further into the conflict between the Justice, Devil, and Perfect Chojin factions, revealing more about the roots of the Chojin. The story centers around Prince Kinnikuman, a seemingly clumsy hero from Planet Kinniku who discovers his true destiny to become the strongest wrestler in the world. The series is known for its blend of humor, action, and character development as Kinnikuman and his allies, such as Terryman and Robin Mask, protect the peace of the universe.
A notable announcement alongside the third season is the production of new character songs. This revives a tradition from the original 1983 anime series, which featured individual songs for many of its fighters, a move that has been well-received by fans. While a specific release date for Season 3 has not yet been revealed, fans can anticipate more updates from Production I.G given the series’ growing popularity.
