Kodansha USA Publishing has confirmed upcoming print releases for several highly anticipated manga titles, including Yuna Hirasawa’s Luca, the Dragon Vet and My Journey to Her Manga, alongside a 2-in-1 omnibus edition of Harold Sakuishi’s acclaimed series BECK. All three print releases are scheduled to begin in Fall 2026.
Dive into Dragon Veterinary Adventures with ‘Luca, the Dragon Vet’
Fans can look forward to the print debut of Yuna Hirasawa’s enchanting series, Luca, the Dragon Vet (also known as Ryūi no Luca or Lucíana, Dragon Veterinarian). The manga introduces Luca, a determined young woman aspiring to become a dragon veterinarian in a world where dragons are integral to travel, work, and war. Her path is fraught with challenges, including strict admission rules, demanding coursework, and a notorious family name. Described as a magical medical drama brimming with adventure and intrigue, the series is recommended for both young and older readers who enjoy titles like Witch Hat Atelier and The Apothecary Diaries. Hirasawa launched the manga in Kodansha’s Morning two in September 2022, with medical supervision from Hoko Tsuda. The fifth compiled Japanese volume was published on May 22.
Yuna Hirasawa’s Award-Winning Memoir, ‘My Journey to Her,’ Gets Print Release
Also slated for a Fall 2026 print release is Yuna Hirasawa’s critically acclaimed standalone memoir, My Journey to Her (Boku ga Watashi ni Naru Tame ni). Kodansha USA Publishing initiated the digital release of this manga in English in July 2024. The manga, which debuted in Morning in March 2016, explores Hirasawa’s personal experience with gender dysphoria, her journey from Japan to Thailand for gender-affirming surgery in 2015, and the complexities of her transition. Told with honesty and occasional humor, the memoir blends manga art with detailed prose, addressing sensitive subjects such as suicidal ideation, transphobia, and the often challenging yet ultimately joyous process of gender-affirming surgery. My Journey to Her received the Best Digital Comic award at the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards on July 25.
‘BECK’ Returns in 2-in-1 Omnibus Editions
Harold Sakuishi’s beloved rock ‘n’ roll epic, BECK, will finally receive a 2-in-1 omnibus print release from Kodansha USA, also in Fall 2026. The series, which ran in Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Magazine from July 1999 to April 2008, comprises 34 volumes. BECK chronicles the story of 14-year-old Yukio “Koyuki” Tanaka, whose mundane life is transformed after an encounter with guitar prodigy Ryusuke Minami, leading them to form a rock band and pursue their dreams of fame. Tokyopop previously released 14 volumes of the manga in English between 2005 and 2008, before Kodansha USA later published all 34 volumes digitally in 2020. The popular manga also inspired a 26-episode television anime adaptation in 2004 and a live-action film in 2010. This new omnibus edition offers fans a chance to collect the complete series physically.
