Manga enthusiasts are abuzz with the announcement that Kotoyama, the acclaimed creator behind Call of the Night (Yofukashi no Uta), has launched a new short series for the popular vampire romance. Titled Yofukashi no Uta -Rakuen-hen- (Call of the Night -Paradise Arc-), this new narrative expands upon the beloved universe of Ko Yamori and Nazuna Nanakusa.

The revelation came from Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine’s 30th issue on June 25, with the new short series officially debuting in the subsequent issue on July 2. This return to the world of Call of the Night comes after the main manga series concluded its serialization in January 2024, having run in Weekly Shonen Sunday since August 2019 and accumulating 20 compiled book volumes.

Kotoyama’s Call of the Night gained significant traction for its unique blend of romantic comedy and supernatural themes, exploring the nocturnal adventures of an insomniac human boy who seeks to become a vampire. The original series captivated readers with its distinct art style and engaging character dynamics, earning it the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2023.

Beyond the manga, the Call of the Night franchise has also seen success in animation. A television anime adaptation of the manga premiered its first season in July 2022. Fans can also anticipate the second season of the anime, which is slated to premiere on July 4, 2025, further expanding the animated narrative parallel to Kotoyama’s new manga venture. This consistent output underscores the enduring popularity and creative vitality of the Call of the Night universe.

Kotoyama is also recognized for their previous work, Dagashi Kashi, a popular series that ran from 2014 to 2018 in Weekly Shonen Sunday. The launch of Yofukashi no Uta -Rakuen-hen- offers both a fresh narrative for existing fans and an opportunity for new readers to delve into the captivating world of Call of the Night.
