About “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!”
“Let This Grieving Soul Retire!” (Japanese: Nageki no Bōrei wa Intai Shitai) is an adventure and fantasy series that originated as a light novel. The story centers around Krai Andrey, the reputed leader of the elite treasure hunter party, “The Grieving Souls”.
The Reluctant Hero: Krai Andrey
Despite his legendary reputation as the “Thousand Tricks” for his supposed unstoppable strength and clairvoyant mind, Krai Andrey is, in reality, a rather weak and unlucky individual who simply wishes to retire. His friends, however, mistake his accidental successes and self-serving attempts to avoid danger as brilliant strategies, solidifying his unwanted position as their leader. The narrative often focuses on Krai’s comedic attempts to avoid work or acquire rare relics, leading to his accidental heroism and the further misunderstanding of his true nature by his devoted companions.
The World of “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!”
The series is set in a fantasy world where dungeon-like treasure vaults have emerged, prompting many to become treasure hunters in pursuit of riches and ancient relics. The Grieving Souls operate in the imperial capital of Zebrudia, conquering formidable dungeons and disasters with their combined, albeit often misguided, efforts.
