The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Yama Wayama’s Let’s Go Karaoke! is generating buzz with the release of its second promotional video, which unveils and previews the show’s theme song. Scheduled to debut on July 24, 2025, this series promises a unique blend of comedy and musical moments.

A Sneak Peek into the Anime

The second promotional video offers viewers a taste of what’s to come, highlighting the quirky dynamic between the main characters and the series’ overall tone. The anime is based on the manga Let’s Go Karaoke! (Karaoke Iko!), which follows the unlikely relationship between Satomi Oka, a middle school choir member, and Kyouji Narita, a yakuza lieutenant.

“HOWL”: The Anthem of “Let’s Go Karaoke!”

The promotional video introduces “HOWL,” the theme song performed by Ayumu Imazu. This track sets the stage for the anime, capturing the energy and emotion that define the series.

Production Details

Let’s Go Karaoke! is produced by Doga Kobo, with Asami Nakatani at the helm as director. The series composition is handled by Yoshimi Narita, ensuring a faithful adaptation of Yama Wayama’s original work. Mai Matsuura is responsible for the character designs, while Takurō Iga composes the music.

Storyline

The story begins with Satomi Oka, a worried middle school student gearing up for his final choir competition. His life takes an unexpected turn when he’s approached by Kyouji Narita, a yakuza member, who insists, “Let’s go karaoke!”. Narita’s request stems from a karaoke contest held by his boss, where the worst singer faces the undesirable fate of receiving a tattoo chosen and applied by the boss himself. Reluctantly, Oka agrees to coach Narita, leading to a series of one-on-one karaoke sessions between a middle schooler and a gangster.

From Manga to Anime: The Journey of “Let’s Go Karaoke!”

Let’s Go Karaoke! began as a dōjin publication in 2019 before being published by Kadokawa Future Publishing in 2020. The manga gained recognition, placing third in the 14th Manga Taisho awards in 2021. In addition to the anime adaptation, a live-action film adaptation premiered in Japan in January 2024.

Meet the Characters

  • Satomi Oka: A middle school student and member of the choir club.
  • Kyouji Narita: A yakuza lieutenant who seeks Satomi’s help to improve his singing.

Additional Cast

Shinnosuke Tokudome voices Wada, a second-year student who is also a member of the choir club.

Where to Watch

Crunchyroll will stream Let’s Go Karaoke!, allowing fans worldwide to enjoy the series.

Other Works by Yama Wayama

In addition to Let’s Go Karaoke!, another manga by Yama Wayama, Captivated, by You (Muchū sa, Kimi ni.), is also receiving an anime adaptation. Both series are being produced by Doga Kobo with the same main staff.

Final Thoughts

With its blend of comedy, music, and heartwarming character interactions, Let’s Go Karaoke! is shaping up to be a standout anime of the season. The anime is scheduled to premiere on July 24, 2025.
